Announcement thread discussion
Re: Announcement thread discussion
I'd say ever increasing for teams who've missed GP in previous years.

Do you remember how 1100 came about?dave1959 wroteCOLONkoomzzz wroteCOLONwhats the thought process behind making the threshold 850?
As of Mar 5 NHL standings (last day of our regular season) the NHL had played 967 games (78.6%) of it's scheduled games.
http://dropyourgloves.com/Games/AnyDate ... 5&League=1
78.6% of 1100 is 864.6.
We rounded it down to a nice even 850.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
1100 was before my time
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Is the 70-35 goalie games starts for both the max and min? I thought it was starts for the max, and just games for the min?

Re: Announcement thread discussion
fair enough. i like the move to regular season only. 850 seems a bit low, it's like 40 GP/week. it'd be neat to see how many had less than 40 skater GP in a week this season. maybe i'll dig into itdave1959 wroteCOLONkoomzzz wroteCOLONwhats the thought process behind making the threshold 850?

Re: Announcement thread discussion
I believe every team made gp this season on the 850 model. The lowest was 856?
Every team should also make 1100 this season.

Re: Announcement thread discussion
If anyone remembers how the 1100 number came about I'd be curious to the logic behind where it came from.
Re: Announcement thread discussion
I wouldn't be surprised if it's because it's close to 75% of 18 roster spots x 82 games, but because 1107 isn't a clean number they rounded down slightly.

Re: Announcement thread discussion
I like 850 as a minimum. ADHL has 950 and it's for sure too high (7 teams missed this season, including the defending champs). 850 is high enough you have to field a real team but not so low as to generate an over the top valuation of fringe NHLers
Re: Announcement thread discussion
Lol! Just no. 850 is nothing to reach. I regularly dressed 2 and 3 empty roster spots and at times 5 and 6 due to injury and dressing a lot of kids that went up and down and will make 1100 comfortably. This new 850 number will be significantly easier to hit in the regular season. I don't think that this is something that is in the best interest of the league at all, but I'm guessing certain members of the cc will be happy about this. Will be ridiculously easy for rebuilders to tank and make it much easier for contenders to acquire nhl players because this will devalue nhlers even further.timwebb1212 wroteCOLONI like 850 as a minimum. Haven't done the math but isn't it very similar to the 1100 games after 5 additional weeks?
Re: Announcement thread discussion
It's an average of approx 2 less gp per week, so no.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONHaven't done the math but isn't it very similar to the 1100 games after 5 additional weeks?

Re: Announcement thread discussion
The number of weeks vary...give or take a week.
The way I looked at 1100 over a full season...it's the equivalent of 13 skaters playing 82 games and 14th skater that playing 34 games. You can realistically have 4 skaters that do absolutely nothing all season.
If our typical regular season is 21 weeks...850 over 21 weeks is just over 40.5 games a week. That's 2.25 games a week from each skater.
Bottom line, the minimum is supposed to be a number we all can reach...shouldn't take a lot of effort. If you don't reach it, we'll hammer ya.

Re: Announcement thread discussion
FWIW ADHL has 950 for regular season (most thought 1000 was OK but we dropped it a little anyway)
We felt 15 active skaters each week was a fair minimum number, full lineup is 18 skaters.
Each team gets through about 65 games by the time our regular season ends (same exact schedule and timing as in here)
15 x 65 = 975 so there's breathing room.
18 x 65 = 1170 so that leaves 220 GP for injuries and guys going up and down, that's over 10 GP each week in breathing room, that's 3 or 4 spots to fiddle with.

Re: Announcement thread discussion
Nope, we used a ratio. Then moved it down a bit for a clean number. The exact ratio between 1100 was 864 I believe, and we moved it down to 850. So it's more like a .75gp per roster position over the entire season. Which is less, yes, but definitely not 2 per roster spot.CasperX22 wroteCOLONIt's an average of approx 2 less gp per week, so no.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONHaven't done the math but isn't it very similar to the 1100 games after 5 additional weeks?
In fact, my own team was 856 at the end of the season, and will be further past 1100 as my team has been healthier lately. Probably around 1130.
And fwiw, I assume you are pointing at Arian and I as the certain People of the cc,and originally neither of us wanted the 850 number.

A minimum should be something easy to reach, not something that any team rebuilding has to sweat out all season and make like 10 trades killing their prospect depth in a desperate attempt to acquire NHL players

Re: Announcement thread discussion
Why don't we leave the ADHL bickering for ADHL? We had a team miss 850 this year anyway, and he made a few deals in an attempt to get there. Then you have examples such as ADHL BOS who made that effort from a team that had nothing, still has prospects and made 950, barely, but he did it.
Always going to be differing opinions on this anyway. But I think 850 decreases parity over the long term
