When Shook and I watched him at WJC (live) he was far from complete, and his finish was sketchy to say the least, scoring chances galore from size and speed (and nice passes form elite dmen for the level), but the touch to get the puck to the back of the next was/has been missing. IMO Bryan heavily values the finishing ability, the natural portion of it. Perhaps he saw something that indicates he's ready to lite up some tenders.

His lack of finish is so overblown it is stupid.

Either he should be breaking and tieing scoring records or his finish isn't in line with his elite size, skating and positioning; because the rest of his skillset has him in constant scoring chance position. My comments on his lack of finish were well in advance of the popular scouting reports saying as much and continue to be based on what I've seen.

Not really, you started saying it exactly when everyone else did (following the WJC), and your point is false, there is a large in "middle area" between scoring record and lack of finish...Generational players break scoring records, MSP is not that, but he does have 20-30 goal talent, as evidenced by his 15 goals as a rookie on the third line.

well... said it during the games at WJC based on my own viewing of a ton of games (many of which were un-televised if you recall); not based on the analysis offered by tsn commentators - no commentary in building, or post-game/WJC analysis.

20-30 goal talent no doubt, i'd consider that selling him short; he'll get similar # of scoring chances to a 50 goal man. Heavy shot, insane speed, elite balance, high compete level, good position (maybe more), and some playmaking -> he hints at generational, just not a 'natural' finisher.

He had a lackluster tournament in the goal scoring department, but it is such a small sample size that it is meaningless. If there was an un-televised game I don't recall it (I saw all of Sweden's games, even against Latvia). As for 50 goals, he just isn't that good of a scorer, his greatest talent (aside from speed) is his play-making, and a majority of his goals will be scored off of his howitzer of a slap shot.

And FTR, most 50 goal scorers dominate MSP in sog and scoring chances, I think you underestimate just how many chances the elite scorers get.

Huge overstatements about MSP here.
