Who are we scouting, who do we take?

Burke has always worried me at the draft. The top 6 prospects in this years draft seem to have set themselves apart from everyone else; that said, it wouldn't surprise me to see Burke go off the board a take a player ranked lower in the 1st rd.

Assuming Burke doesn't think BPA is Ceci or something stupid at 5. I really like Burke as our GM, but I have zero faith in him at the draft. Him scouting Faska scares the hell out of me.

I think the fact that he likes guys with size. To be, i'm just a little worried he's going to draft Gaunce or Faska.......but who knows what he does really. Personally i expect a busy summer from burke, i dont think he's going to sit back and stick with this team any longer, i fully expect a lot of changes.

We've had insane changes! But at some point consistency is required - I'm not saying we don't need a few, especially as young players develop and you know more about what they can deliver, however too many changes just brings us back to the beginning.

I hope he doesn't make changes just to make changes; and I believe he won't, very little history of that.


There are some serious players who could be available: Nash, Parise, Suter,Wideman & Semin obviously all very much in play, and then guys with off-years are typically rumoured, so Getzlaf, Stafford, Stastny, Erik Johnson...But none of this nets us a goalie, which IMO is our biggest short-fall.


I do see some nice 'fit' players for us. Gaustad as a big defensive C is UFA; RFA Schneider sure looks good, won't be cheap though! Especially if you believe Vancouver media. Actually the RFA list is crazy nice, headed by Weber & Green, neither likely to go anywhere though...

Sam Gagner needs a contract... is he staying in Edmonton? Rask was originally our draft pick... (tears)....

Should be a lot of story lines to follow.

Faksa has been getting top-five nibbles after January. The kid is the real deal -- I wouldn't be disappointed if he was taken at 5th. And in no way, shape, or form is he comparable to Gaunce. That's fucking retarded.
