Irrelevant, but I'll play along...Alex Honnold has broken a number of speed records, including a free climb of Salathé Wall, as well as a 5h49m aid solo ascent of the 2,900 feet (900 m) Nose of El Capitan, a route normally demanding two to four days. Note that these records include free soloing and rope climbing. He is up there with the best athletes in the world, to date he is the most impressive athlete I have ever witnessed.

This guy certainly has a death wish though. I wonder how tough it was for this guy to get life insurance and how many cocks he had to suck to take out a policy?

Don't worry, this thread was mainly an attempt at trolling Shiv that failed thanks to Nick...

Chris wroteCOLONFinally watched this: Amazing.

I'm blown away by his athleticism, natural stretch, and agility. When people talk about elite athletes, they think of tennis players, hockey players, basketball players, etc. But solo free-climbing has to be the toughest sport in the world. I can't even think of another sport that trumps it.
Agreed, I've been obsessed with this guys story since I saw this documentary, he really is something else. As far as I'm concerned, the greatest athlete in the world today, certainly the most dominant in his respective sport.
You guys are confusing athletic dominance/ability with the fact that there are surely many people who are physically "able" to do what he does but psychologically and mentally "unable" to do it.
As usual, you are speaking about a topic out of turn. Alex Honnold has scaled mountains such as the North Face in hours (without rope) whereas even the most elite climbers can only scale it in a day (with rope). Alex Honnold has also scaled mountains that no one else has (free soloist or with rope), clearly he is the best at his sport, both athletically and mentally.
Kareem. You always take what people say out of context and go off on a tangent. I never said the guy is not an unreal athlete. He is. But you are accustomed to making hyperbolic statements whenever you feel like you want to make a point. These statements are usually emotional based on how you are feeling on that given day:

1) CODY FRANSON SUCKS
2) JONAS GUSTAVSSON IS NOT EVEN A BACK UP
3) BEN SCRIVENS SHOULD BE OUR STARTER
4) EDMONTON WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AS THE 2nd SEED IN THE WEST
5) KESSEL WILL HAVE MORE POINTS THAN GIROUX

But all of this is besides the point. You live to argue with people lol. You will now spend 2-5 minutes coming up with a counter to this post and then once its on the forum, reread it and edit it as fast as possible if you find a point you need to adjust, just like you edited the quoted post above. And then you will await my response in your little corner of a room.

Take it easy dude.

You are not the only one on the planet who is smart enough to realize that this guy is an amazing athlete. And knowing that doesn't make you special.
