I think an asset switch is very bad precedent. GM's switching spots is silly silly silly.


I have nothing wrong with (and supported every other time it came up) with Tony changing to the Sharks, and taking all of his current assets with him. It is ugly to have guys switching to an empty team and getting their assets every time an opening comes up.

I disagree with Kareem that precedence was set in the summer when we turned down one of his hissy fits. Someone needs to read some Farley Mowat. Switching to your favourite team is a good reason IMO, but NOT getting the sharks assets. IMO NEEL's players switch to the NYI, and Tony's current players and picks are switched over to SJS.


IMO the league should be able to handle going on their spreadsheets and erasing SJS with NYI and vice versa.

Actually this is false. He initially wanted to just switch team names while moving all assets over. But that is not possible because logistically it will cause too many issues. So he opted for the 2nd option of taking over the team and its assets. He even said he is willing to take a penalty to make the switch. So it is not like he is trying to profit from the switch. He would suggest it even if SJS was worse than his team. Secondly, "thinking Nick is Philly" really is not a problem in terms of BBKL. It's in your head. Thats not a logical counter. Both points you have made are subjective. I still dont see a "problem" caused by this switch.

To the 1st, I don't care what his motivations are, if we allow team switching some people will want to switch to better clubs in the future.

To the 2nd, that is indeed a logical counter, even if it is only my feeble mind that has this issue, as it is an unnecessary inconvenience.

As well, the only positive you've put forth for this is that a manager gets the label of his favourite team. Maybe I'm an ass, but I don't care that you don't get your favourite team. Tough shit.

If it was as simple as swapping CBS assets this wouldn't be an issue. But it's way more than that. Spreadsheet's for anybody that owns these picks, backtracking any trades made by NYI or SJS to track down picks/assets, etc.

You'd be singing a different tune if you didn't own the Maple Leafs. And none of the points you have made are logical. Whenever you go to work somewhere or join a club, part of the experience is getting what you would ideally want. BBKL as an organization should make exceptions for GMs who are fans of certain teams. This isnt a big deal. It's a damn GM moving over to the west to take over a team that another GM will be doing anyways. It is an act of good will. It builds a better community. Better loyalty. You being an ass and saying this is how it is, is just a deterrent to that community. This is a fantasy hockey league for hockey fans. We should accommodate fans so that they have a better experience.

And he presumes to think how I feel. I took the Leafs on a whim when we started. Had anybody else asked for them nicely I would have offered. I took them, sure because they were my favourite, but more so because they were a challenge.
