LOL - actually, I don't need big names, I need 15 minutes. Also, I'm confident in the group I have and I don't think I'll need to add a piece at all.

We all are likely going to need that piece, it's far too close to label anyone a clear cut favorite, especially when you take the inevitable injury bug into account.

I disagree with hockey.. at the beginning of any season there are around 10-15 legit teams who could feasibly win.. especially with the salary cap!

This past year I would've said WSH, NJD, PHI, CGY (I picked them at the start of the year), PIT, DET, SJS, CHI, BOS.. I felt they all had consideration to begin the year.

So 9-10 teams? I would argue there are 9-10 teams with the same chance as the above, obviously with differing odds, not unlike the real NHL...

1. New Jersey
2. Pittsburgh
3. Phildelphia
4. Florida
5. Washington
6. Boston
7. Los Angeles
8. Hartford
9. St. Louis
10. Vancouver
11. Anaheim (arguably)
12. Calgary (arguably)

Like I said above, the dominance of certain teams is being HEAVILY overstated in this league, I much prefer the current format, over your typical H2H league in which any of the 30 teams can win it all, was never a fan of that, it's unrealistic, I am very happy with how this league has turned out personally.

4) lack of prospects/picks to replace injuries

Yes, but it's not your typical H2H league...God damnit Kyuss, read! Most H2H leagues have random winners, and its almost entirely based on luck, there are so many different cats in this league that upsets almost NEVER happen.

2. UFA changes the entire core structure of this league, the core that I like... What is so difficult to understand about that? It's pretty straight forward.

Anyway, aside from the SHTOI stat, i don't think these stats are what makes upsets unlikely (probably still more possible than you seem to think though), it's more like the unbalance in the league.. there are teams that are so much better than others that random winners become unlikely. That's probably the result of inevitably having some bad GMs out fo the 30 starting ones in a league based on trades where trades were never vetoed.

SHTOI is just one stat, and fairly well balanced league wide, the reason upsets are so unlikely is the sheer number of detailed stats, it's not like most leagues were if your offense gets hot and you score a ton you win. In this league you need to win the goaltending battle, offensive battle, and periphery war. Much more often than not it leads to straight forward contests. Now that's not to say upsets don't happen they do, but your not going to see a low seeded team beat a New Jersey very often, if at all.
