Richards to NYR
Re: Richards to NYR
It actually bugs me a little that I'm now being told I would have been happy with 9 years. Kareem & Shook you're unfairly generalizing. I know Kareem, lee and Billy wanted Richards at whatever the cost, had several convos about as much - but (it pains me to say this) I also recall shiv and a fellow leaf fan here in van (todd) who were with me in regards to no term past 5-mayb-6 years.
Connolly at 2 years isn't as risky as Cole for 4 years. Although I wasn't one criticizing the signing, the comment has merit, add in his previous experiment away from staal/car and the questions have a basis.
IMO brad > stastny. Connolly doesn't have the 2nd best hands, and the Cole signing was to fill an organizational need.
How about canuck fans? Happy with 4.6M for Kev? Letting ehrhoff & Torres go? Adding (speaking of injuries) sturm? Is that the difference to win the cup

Re: Richards to NYR
I was high on Richards coming here, but learning that his deal involves a no - movement clause for the duration, I'm glad we didn't offer that.
Re: Richards to NYR
LOL wasn't I the one who said all fans did it? Even giving examples of how Canucks fans did the exact same thing and everything lol. Was I generalizing yes but I was also saying that it rang true about all fans from all teams. I don't get the need for anger and lashing out here.facey wroteCOLONIt actually bugs me a little that I'm now being told I would have been happy with 9 years. And in regards to Richards, I said it was unrealistic to expect anything less than a big term on the FA market, and that when push came to shove I would pay it.

Also, I stand by my comment that Conolly has the second best hands in hockey. But just so there is no confusion I am referring specifically to his ability to dangle, and nothing else. Though with Jagr back in town, I may have to push him to third.

Yeah, the only players I can even see an argument being made for are Ales Hemsky, Ilya Kovalchuk, Evgeni Malkin and Mike Ribeiro to be entirely honest. The Devil wroteCOLON100% agree!MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONAlso, I stand by my comment that Conolly has the second best hands in hockey. guys this is the overstatement of the year. Connolly does have great hands, but he is not top 5 in the NHL even. The Devil wroteCOLON100% agree!MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONAlso, I stand by my comment that Conolly has the second best hands in hockey. Yes he does.. the guy's a fucking magician with the puck. He was born with a stick in his hands...SuperMario wroteCOLONguys this is the overstatement of the year. Re: Richards to NYR
Problem with Connolly('s great hands) is that after his concussions/injuries he had to change the way he plays, holding onto the puck way less than he used to do when making amazing plays.
Has been playing a safer, less exciting game, the last few seasons.

He's been better the last few seasons (IMO), less points, but also better play away from the puck, and greater durability.kyuss wroteCOLONProblem with Connolly('s great hands) is that after his concussions/injuries he had to change the way he plays, holding onto the puck way less than he used to do when making amazing plays.

Re: Richards to NYR
you and kareem are exaggerating these hands so much its crazy. what exactly is the definition of hands? Datsyuk's considered #1 not only because he can dangle, but because he creates plays like crazy/can create a scoring opportunity in tight and around the net. Crosby, Ovechkin, St. Louis all have better hands than Connolly. They can deke, but they have great hands in tight and they are terrific around the crease <---- something Connolly has not proven yet.The Devil wroteCOLONYes he does.. the guy's a fucking magician with the puck. Kareem was talking about dangling. Connolly is the 2nd best dangler in the NHL imo..

that's more of a fair statement for sure. imo though on the leafs alone grabo is a better dangler than connolly. league wide, i'd put kovalev (when he's on), briere, semin and patrick kane all ahead of connolly. The Devil wroteCOLONKareem was talking about dangling. I forgot about Semin and Kovalev, you are right about those two, and I can certainly see the case for Kane (not Briere), but I would still lean towards Conolly. Anyways, this is a purely subjective argument, I'm just happy we added a skilled offensive pivot to compliment Kessel, and perhaps pair with Kadri in the future.SuperMario wroteCOLONthat's more of a fair statement for sure. imo though on the leafs alone grabo is a better dangler than connolly. league wide, i'd put kovalev (when he's on), briere, semin and patrick kane all ahead of connolly. The Devil wroteCOLONKareem was talking about dangling. Re: Richards to NYR
agreed. I think Connolly can work well with Kessel. You think Kadri makes it to that line by mid season? I think a Kadri-Connolly-Kessel line would be pretty dangerous.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI forgot about Semin and Kovalev, you are right about those two, and I can certainly see the case for Kane (not Briere), but I would still lean towards Conolly. Re: Richards to NYR
I'd say Connolly is in the 2nd tier of amazing, fancy-handed mofo's.
Dats, Sid, Jagr, maybe kovalchuk and JT
Then the 2nd group, led by Vinny, kovalev and ribby IMO. Oddly enough I'd say rnh will be in this group, Connolly is here with a bunch of guys with filthy mits, giroux, gagner, skinner... Etc. No doubt they are amazing though
