Jeff Carter has been told he's been traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In exchange for Carter, the Flyers are expected to receive Jakub Voracek, plus first and third round draft picks.
Carter, who has 11-years remaining on contract that will have a cap hit of just over $5.272 million will give the Blue Jackets a much needed scorer to play along side their captain Rick Nash.
By dealing Carter, the Flyers have likely opened up enough cap space to sign recently acquired goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, who is set to become a free agent on July 1.
The Flyers acquired the rights to the 30-year-old Bryzgalov, two weeks ago in a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes. Philadelphia shipped over a third-round draft pick in 2012, forward Matt Clackson and future considerations.

The richards rumors are heating up but i call it bs.. why would philly move their 2 centers for younger players after trading for bryz. They are clearly contenders and have invested a lot in their defence core. Rumored deal is Richards to LA for Schenn & Simmonds as the main parts of the deal.

Love this deal for CBJ. BTW I would like to formally thank the Flyers for making two western teams that much stronger as if they weren't already.

Nash's time to put up or shut up though. Everyone has been saying for years he is a top 5 scorer with a line mate so here is his chance.

Now seems like the time for Gillis to move Lou.

Leafs were also interested in Carter and Kadri was discussed, but Tor wouldn't include Kulemin to close deal for Carter.

Shep wroteCOLONI cannot see Nash and Carter NOT playing together..
Right handed centre who shoots, left handed right-winger who dangles. Both big and fast.
Actually.. I believe they lined up with Eric Staal for a few shits during the olympics... don't recall who took the draw
