Sheahan will surprise people I think. The redwings haven't taken a forward in almost a decade with their first round before Sheahan; they must have seen something special with him to be the one they break the trend with. Plus Redwings rarely go wrong with draft picks they may take the long term projects but their picks normally pan out.

Sheahan improved this year with Notre Dame but the Wings are notoriously slow with integrating their prospects. He's a couple years away but he's a nice piece to add regardless. Streit will obviously help Steve now. Rafalski still gets you offensive numbers but his all-around game continues to decline and his durability is becoming more of an issue. Steve wins the deal now.
