The Islanders pick is top 12 protected. Even if they miss the playoffs, I guess they could move up 10 spots and the pick gets pushed to next year.

I'm very curious about Yzerman's angle on this one. Hronek is a very solid player on a reasonable contract with term remaining. They now have 5 picks in the first two rounds.

Pretty easy angle: it's great value on a guy that won't continue as the top pp dman in the future and who is just okay at defense.

right now my two boys get both PP1 and PP2 time..? wonder if chabot stays pp1... likely sanderson will not be having pp time then if it is 4 fwds... it will definitely help my 5v5 stats..

exactly, as I said ytd "Ekholm is 32, makes 6.25 for 3 more yrs and hasn't looked his best self when I've seen him this season.. looks like an overpayment to me, especially when they didn't get NSH to retain more than 4% of the salary LOL"

I'm glad Yzerman could find a deal for Bertuzzi. He was one true rental piece they had to move out.

It's one thing to lose back-to-back teams you're jockeying for playoff position. Ottawa embarrassed them. The Sens were very impressive and now they add Chychrun to their defense. The wild card battle will be very exciting follow but the Wings just don't have the horses (yet).

Make some positive additions through the draft and hopefully they can fortify the lineup with free agency and/or some help from within.

Another big free agent off the board...Pastrnak gets paid. He'll have the 6th highest AAV in the league starting next season. MacKinnon vaults ahead of McDavid next year for the top spot.

McDavid still has 3 more years on deal. Does he get to be the first player to approach the 20% cap hit figure on his next deal? Anyone who goes $10+ million needs to be in a special class. When you're in the $12+ million, you're the elite of the elite.

20% of the current cap is $16.5 million. You have to think McDavid commands $14 or $15 million at a minimum for what MacKinnon just got.

His deal and several of the other March ELC signings don't kick in until 2023-24. I do still like to enter those into my database even if they aren't technically under contract until after the season.

As far as you're concerned for this season, he's still considered unsigned.
