There's probably a lot of strong reactions to the Leafs losing that 5-1 lead last night but people need to realize...the Panthers are really good. I don't think the Leafs will lose leads like that to most teams although their goaltending is a bit shaky right now. As long as there is time on the clock, the Panthers are never out of a game with the way they can score goals.

Panthers are good but you can’t be blowing 5-1 leads against anyone. You could be the worst team in the league playing the best and it should still never happen. Absolutely awful. Btw holl should never see the ice again, he’s so trash.Shoalzie wroteCOLONThere's probably a lot of strong reactions to the Leafs losing that 5-1 lead last night but people need to realize...the Panthers are really good. I’m extra bitter because I had a free $25 bet from the score betting app on the leafs and unlike with bet365 (the goat) they don’t cash you out If you go up by 3 goals. $38 profit slowly turned to 0 as the night went on. Brutal.

Probably, but it’s still Matthew being silly.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONHe's referring to the Matthews conversation here and the Marner/Datsyuk conversation on HF most likely.KapG wroteCOLONWtf are you even talking about. You really do say some dumb shit sometimesMatthew wroteCOLONSo far today I've seen matthews as a better fedorov and marner as a datsyuk comparable by Toronto fans.
By the end of the season Toronto will have two selkes...And still somehow they will have the 18th worst goals against.
We were just making player comps and Federov was one Scott randomly brought up lol. I’m not sure where anyone was calling him better. That being said, the argument could absolutely be made that at this point in their careers matthews is the better player. I’d love to see where federov scored 70 goals over 82 games btw

Sure I'll show you where fedorov scored 70 goals it's right over here where matthews scored 70 goalsKapG wroteCOLONProbably, but it’s still Matthew being silly.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONHe's referring to the Matthews conversation here and the Marner/Datsyuk conversation on HF most likely.KapG wroteCOLONWtf are you even talking about. (I'm more talking about comparing matthews and marner to two of the elitist defensive players of the past 30 years tho, which is where I think people are getting carried away)

A lot has been said about Matthews two-way play but I haven't watched enough of the Leafs to talk about he's able to do at both ends of the ice. I have seen bits and pieces of a lot of Leafs games this year...his shooting is his calling card and obviously the stats show that.
Even if he's just good at stealing the puck...that's definitely a useful skill. I think guys that are great at keeping the puck are also savvy at knowing how to take the puck from other players. You see McDavid and Draisaitl are high in the takeaway category amongst forwards.
Mentioning Fedorov...that guy was legitimately one of the most unique talents to come in the NHL of this generation...literally could do it all. I'll give Ovechkin the nod as greatest Russian-born offensive player but you'll never hear me say he's better overall than Fedorov. I definitely won't put Matthews in his category either. Fedorov is almost an alien in terms of all-around ability. Only thing he didn't have a physical edge to his game but then again, neither did Nick Lidstrom.
My hot take...Fedorov is better than Datsyuk and I know darn well how good Datsyuk is.

Peak Federov was amazing, but I'm going to disagree there. Datsyuk was still elite well into his 30's.Shoalzie wroteCOLONA lot has been said about Matthews two-way play but I haven't watched enough of the Leafs to talk about he's able to do at both ends of the ice. Fedorov played a fair bit of defense towards the end of his career too iirc
Re: GDT - Playoff Round 1 (Road to the BBKL Cup)

I was thinking of his time in ANA and CBJ not DET tbh
Re: GDT - Playoff Round 1 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
if my memory serves me correctly that happened in Detroit, not ANA, WSH or CLB

That was an experiment under Bowman. I think he played when they had too many injuries to the regular defensemen. I remember them doing it but I'm terrible at remember the exact season. Memory is foggy but I keep thinking he would partner with Steve Duchesne. Bowman's last season was '01-02 after that super team won the cup.
I keep forgetting Fedorov played one more year with the Wings after that before signing with Anaheim. That was a dark day for me. I went to his first game back to the Joe as a Duck. That was surreal.
I also remember Mathieu Dandenault also flipping between wing and defense because of his skating ability but I couldn't remember if that was under Bowman or Dave Lewis. The Wings did some weird stuff after their cup runs. Kris Draper was playing first line and scored 24 goals and won the Selke the year after Fedorov left. That next offseason they had signed Derian Hatcher and Ray Whitney were huge flops and get compliance bought out after the long lockout.
But I digress...
