ARZ - NSH
Re: ARZ - NSH
Makes sense for mik. Finally gets him under the cap.
Karlsson is a great player, but I don't get it from cliffs point of view. Like, fair value, but seems to be anti-rebuild.

Hope cliff has some more trades lineup up
Re: ARZ - NSH
Because in two years my team will be a lot better with all of young kids I have
Tkachuk, Dach, Necas, Valimaki, Norris, Yamamoto, and still have my first next year and OTT first next year as well
and add in EK, Suter, Seguin, Henquire and Grubeaur, my team is looking a lot better

Re: ARZ - NSH
have to agree. I wanted the 2020 pick for that reason
Re: ARZ - NSH
If someone else traded say the 6th overall pick in 2021 and a 2nd + 3rd ppl would think it's cheap. I think a lot of us just don't like seeing Mik get bailed out and get quality assets when ppl know he is forced to cut cap. I know it makes me a little jealous when I see him get out of cap trouble with an amazing team and add a couple lottery picks, but it's not like he is getting overpays.

Re: ARZ - NSH
If you trade your 1st round pick, you're either aspiring to improve so you hope that trade won't haunt you later or you just want to add some established talent now and don't want to wait for the draft let alone wait the player you pick to develop.
Cliff has primarily hung onto his 1st rounders and collected youth as he's pointed out. He might be on the verge making a nice jump in the standings similar to what Brendon (NJ) just did when Pettersson and Point had breakout seasons.

Re: ARZ - NSH
To me, it's the 2021 pick that he traded so his jump up the standings doesn't have to happen this year. He can still be patient and make more aggressive moves next summer to double-down on this Karlsson investment. Since he's got his pick and Billy's for 2020, why overspend now? 2021 could be a breakout season his group if it doesn't happen this year.
Re: ARZ - NSH
Ooh big deal, I get it for Cliff, it's worth the gamble, it's unlikely the player drafted with that first has a bigger impact on your roster in the next say 5 years than Karlsson does. If you see a window developing go for it.

Agree it’s hard to be in the middle. My biggest concern for EK is his health

But seriously,
We need one mid-season waiver review the way we have positional reviews.
Beginning and mid season. To limit hoarding.
And I'm someone guilty of hording

We're never going to get a true solution to this - only way would be to redraft. The league got out of hand before we join Matthew and some people are gonna continue to be stacked - in particular Mik, because he's a great GM and has put in the time.Matthew wroteCOLONLol.thom54 wroteCOLONOh no.. nsh can only field 2 Bbkl teams now

Anyways, in reality this is a top 10 D man for a maybe top 10 pick 2 yrs ago and a 2nd rounder. Sure EK is a little overpaid and definitely an injury concern, but not a bad deal and helps with parity.
Good on Cliff. Very reasonable deal!
Re: ARZ - NSH
Teams can stack their minors regardless of the the league. I'm gonna have a full team in the minors soon. Putting a mid season review could give teams the 120 without giving them 200 games to review their players.

We need to obvi implement new free agency system where we cant keep all players all the time.
