Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
One of the few happy with Canucks signings.
Ignoring the money and term for a second. They are all quality additions to our team and bring ingredients that we desperately needed to add to our bottom 6.
With the amount of ELCs were going to be rolling and our franchises willingness to spend to the cap. Giving beagle a million too much and Rousell 750k too much, isn't worth getting so negative over if it makes the team better.

Big move for STL. They have some legit forward depth - if Allen can put together a season of good goaltending they’re a top team in the west

Was worried about my boy Robert Thomas but future could still be bright for him:
"Army says getting ROR allows the Blues to play Thomas down the lineup if they need to early in the season. But he could also see Thomas centering a line with ROR on the left and Tarasenko on the right. #stlblues"

sorry tony but this has to be the happiest day of my hockey life as a leafs fan! JT can potentially be my favourite leafs of all time! Do some magic!!Tony wroteCOLONCool. You're still going to suck.
Btw, how will the cap for the leafs look like.. like.. in a next couple seasons.. they have marner and nylanders to sign right? they have enough talents?
But then.. a 1a, 1b like sid and malkin (it's closest to them in the NHL today..) I guess we can even surround them with likes of kunitz lol

Agreed. That was fantastic.KapG wroteCOLONThe picture he posted on twitter where he’s sleeping in his maple leafs pyjamas in his maple leafs bed says it all. Goosebumps.

Whatever. His actions showed how much of a child he is. He dicked around 5 other teams when he had every intention signing in Toronto. We (and others) could have focused our attention elsewhere. He's a childish cunt and I'll be laughing when SJ has more points next year.

I like how Tony isn't salty at all
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I think that's the reaction from all the non-Toronto fanbase in hfboard haha... everyone hates him and Toronto makes the perfect villain of the NHL.. pretty sure he loved to play for the leafs as a childhood dream for a long time.. but what matters to him is not just that.. but the consideration of the window the team he sign with can provide for winning... comfort level.. etc etc.. but obviously it finally came down to the last two choices: NYI (where he was drafted.. all the growing up and experiences) vs TOR (ready to win.. childhood dream.. good young core..) and he is the only one of the big UFA who has the balls to take the pressure of playing in this media toxic hometown city..Tony wroteCOLONWhatever. When you get that many teams involved, you're going to be unpopular with all of them except one. The annoying thing would've been if he just got all the other teams involved just make it look a little less obvious that he wanted to go Toronto all along. A cynical person would probably look at it that way. Who in their right mind thought Tampa Bay or Dallas had a chance in this? There probably three legit options out of the group.
He took the situation that he probably wanted the most but it's probably going to the most scrutinized and highest pressure. He's got his money and he playing close to home...I hope he knows what he's gotten himself into. So many Ontario-born star players have been linked to the Leafs for a while and he's finally the one to make the jump in his career. If he doesn't win a cup for the Leafs in the next 7 years...is he going to be the fall guy?

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I don't think we'll get a lot of July 1's as entertaining as yesterday considering the trend is to get your core of stars signed long term as soon as you can. It's going to be rare that we see a John Tavares-level UFA hit the market. I guess we'll see if we get it next summer with Karlsson or maybe a guy like Seguin. Could actually be a decent free agent class but I'd expect some of those guys to get locked up in the next 12 months.

yeah.. this man.. as for tb and dallas.. hmm I guess he probably had some kind of "preference" within himself.. like leafs and islands for the obvious.. but then when more teams approached him I guess JT probably thinks that there is a chance that the teams that he allowed to present to him may really have something that interests him that he didn't know.. that can persuade him to choose them.. to me.. JT has been a loyal guy (coming from his teammates like clutterbuck) and had been accepting a much underpayment home discount so the islanders can put up a team that can win it.. but snow has been again and again made the moves that just have you think they are not close to competing.. with all respect to the islanders.. I think their management was at fault if you have to name one thing that made JT decided to leave... JT was able to carry some teammates to getting very respectable point totals.. giving them to earn a very good contract that most of us will never get to make that much in our life.. yet.. the management just fails to do something about the team and keep making bad decisions.. I really can't fault JT about it..
