Yeah, Chicago knew he was walking and got something for him rather than nothing. Vegas isn't taking a UFA as Matthew said above. Weird move for Carolina though, giving up a 3rd for a pending UFA. Better hope they can sign him.CasperX22 wroteCOLONDarling wasn't under contract nor was he going to resign in Chicago. Absolutely zero to do with expansion.kyuss wroteCOLONI was under the impression the Blackhawks could have protected only one out of Crawford and Darling, so they would have lost him for nothing. But thanks for letting me know that has nothing to do with the tradeCasperX22 wroteCOLONHow do you figure expansion fall out? .

I doubt he signs with anyone before the start of fa. They basically bought the right to negotiate and throw some numbers around before he goes and talks to other teams. He's likely going where ever he has the best chance to be the clear starter.Arian The Insider wroteCOLONYeah, Chicago knew he was walking and got something for him rather than nothing. no chance he would have resigned for the team he has always cheered for? it's not like he he had his best season, he could have been in better position to sign his career deal next seasonCasperX22 wroteCOLONDarling wasn't under contract nor was he going to resign in Chicago. hopefully he's not that stupid and will discard teams that might bring his GAA over 3 per game.. c'mon Scott, you got a fantasy owner here that was among your few believers!CasperX22 wroteCOLONI doubt he signs with anyone before the start of fa. No chance. He wants to start. He's not going to get there with Crawford in Chicago. He's what 28? He's not getting any younger.kyuss wroteCOLONno chance he would have resigned for the team he has always cheered for? it's not like he he had his best season, he could have been in better position to sign his career deal next seasonCasperX22 wroteCOLONDarling wasn't under contract nor was he going to resign in Chicago. I don't even think Chicago could afford to give him even a tiny raise. Money is suuuuuper tight there now

just my two cents though!
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Even Toews and Kane aside, 6.875m a year for 7 more years for Seabrook when he's already 32, $6m a year for Crawford, 6 more years of the twilight years of Keith, 4 more years of the shadow of Hossa. That's rough. With Panarin's extension kicking in they need to pay literally everyone else on their roster under $1m a year. The BBKL Insider wroteCOLON21mil x 2 isn't smartLoki wroteCOLONI don't even think Chicago could afford to give him even a tiny raise. the hawks are screwed...seems like this dynasty-era is coming to an end! which is awesome.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
GM's are idiots. Continuing to pay for past success, rather than future expectations. They are too afraid to make tough decisions and instead sign awful contracts.

Pens seem to manage ok with sid/geno/Phil/letang/fleury. But ya it's fucking hard if the kids don't come out of the woodwork.
