If anyone thinks I made a deal Chara + henrique for Schenn, I don't even know what to say to that. Ridiculous.

As Thom hinted, Muzzin is probably the guy whose perceived value varies so much among GMs that it generates negative opinions on the deal. I guess Jim is much higher on him than most other BBKL GMs.

I'll admit I'm not a Muzzin fan, but Barbs projects as a bottom pairing 2nd pp kind of guy, and MacWillam is nothing special, my issue is the difference between Henrique and Schenn, even if you like Schenn more doesn't get you to give up Chara for the 3 dmen that he landed.

Humm, I actually like it for Brockbirds. Steve does better next yr, but the Bird man kills this moving forward.

To touch on this comment. Every GM views a trade differently, values players different & comments on trades in different ways. Dont let the heat get to you, build the team how YOU want. I've lost trades just to land a guy i like to watch (Traded for Nash twice and lost both times).

that is a not a lie, only two Nash fans in the league making a Nash trade... other aspect is that the league thinks it values Vanek a ton, but does not at all. I've traded him away at least two times for very little, and both times that was after extensive shopping. I'd wager every time Vanek is dealt the peanut gallery says the side that got him won, they would have paid more, etc

this is actually bang on

on the flip side i'm a nash fan also...that said Berg once made me an offer i couldn't refuse...i believe it was:

kadri, strome, saad for nash

or something along those lines.

What Vanek is worth and what one is willing to pay for him are 2 different things.

I'm sure this isn't a unique situation to Vanek. For me, as valuable as Chara is for BBKL numbers, he's been available since I started here (posted in the original trade block), and nobody has exactly been banging down my door to pick him up. Cap hit, age, potential decline, etc. really limit what anyone seems to want to pay.

Yep - high cap hit, makes guys hard to move. puts a GM into a spot of (as Lee alluded to), " he's worth more to that to my team" - compared to " what the other 29 GMs are willing to pay".
