Well.. we have some decent D prospects on the farm and not much in terms of offensive production - so low GAA seems to be using the players he has.

Was he not Nazem's old coach in Kitchener ? I believe the year he, Yannick Weber, Boedker and others made a surprising run?

We currently have a defensive coach who has no idea how to control a defensive tempo with the current group. We have the 5th highest goals against, easily the most shots against per game, 7th lowest face off percentage, 7th highest total of give aways, 3rd lowest PK %... I can keep going if you like.

oh ya, i wasn't disagreeing with you...i was simply saying we may need to target a coach who plays an open style - up tempo game

Former heavyweight boxing champ Riddick Bowe is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and he's not happy with the team's recent struggles.
If the Maple Leafs lose tomorrow I'm going to knock out Randy Carlyle. One punch between the eyes.
hahaha

per sportsnet.

How does a boxer from Brooklyn become a Leafs fan?

When will people realize Dion is not a 1A defender and not captain material. That team has the skill on paper but i believe there are some issues with personality type and conflicting views from players with regards to Carlyle. It is almost so predictable Leafs will finish 9th or 10th and Carlyle will be fired. Its too bad.

Yah paul...bozak is the problem. Lol

Phaneuf has absolutely zero footspeed and is constantly getting beat. Seems like his stamina is an issue too as he looks tired out there all the time. he most certainly isnt a number 1.

Disclaimer: not saying phaneuf isnt a good player.

Bozak isn't the issue,,,we have lots but he isn't one of them.

1. Defense is an issue (or the coaching style) it's one of the 2
2. Back up goalie
3. System it's self (randy needs to go) Obviously when you give up the most shots every night (and by a lot) the system isn't working.

And lets be honest, talent wise there isn't much difference between the leafs and habs, and they seem to be doing just fine. The leafs need are suited to be a fast-paced team. To be honest, i'm not even sure why system randy is coaching, because it's not translating to the ice.

So when we talk championship calibre teams, u wudnt say:

LAK: KOPITAR/DOUGHTY
CHI: TOEWS/KEITH
PIT: CROSBY/LETANG
ANA: GETZLAF/FOWLER/BEAUCH?
SJS: PAVELSKI/VLASIC
STL: BACKES/PIETRANGELO

list can go on, and while i am a fan of bozak when he hits it off with his big line, can u say that bozak fits amongst in terms of class as the listed #1 centres above just as well as to say phaneuf amongst the D's listed? I am a big proponent of defense, but even a bigger one on having an actual star centre

This sounds totally crazy, but if you watch Backes and Bozak play there isn't a lot of difference. Both propect the puck and carry the play in a similar manner. the only difference is the size. Backes is a much larger and stronger man.

Even their stats indicate a similar style player.

i'm also pretty sure Bozak has better stats than kopitar this year (based on an average over games played)

CBC's hot stove was raving about Bozak and his imporvements this year, and said he's developed into a very good top line C, and his overall production is 12th in the league amongst Cs.

agreed.

Bozak isnt a problem. we'd be totally fucked without him.

Dion has tons of talent but scores a 0 on the hockey IQ scale. It's almost like he was hit with a broken hockey stick too many times in the head.
