Read that last night and more in depth on nhl.com today

Dont know what to think... He was pretty much Sidney of sweden. if that happened to sid for our gold medal game ppl here wudve gone absolutely ballistic. i feel bad for the swedes as they didnt even have a chance to have a fair match without several injured + backstroms case

Backstrom was almost brought to tears he was so disappointed. I feel bad for the guy.

You'd think the doctors would tell him not to take too much to put himself over the legal limit and risk his Olympics.

He was told by his doctor that he wouldnt be flagged for taking it, he also disclosed taking it going into the Olympics. Visnovsky did the same thnig 4 years ago, tested positive but wasnt held out any games. NHLPA is buzzing about the disparity in punishments.

The sad part is the team doctor telling him its ok. Back when I played CIS we fell under identical rules as Olympic athletes and we were put through a course every year outlining changes in rules; etc. We were told precautionary tales about athletes who went to 3 doctors to get medical opinions on a specific drug (usually illness related) and were given the green light. Next thing they know they test positive and bang: banned for 4 years. Even through appeals after disclosing that they sought the medical advice of 3 different MDs before taking it they didn't reduce the punishment.

Point being doctors need to get their shit together and learn the rules so athletes can be properly informed.

I think he was a soccer goalie. One of the better rookies, but not even close to as good as that midfielder who scored a goal though.

You're dead to me Bruyns LOL....

And I was a keeper for the Guelph Gryphons soccer team. After I played I also became goalie coach for the womens soccer team there for a couple of years as well. Great memories from my time there...
