Franson last year:

+4
125 hits
0.66 PPG avg.
60 blocks
13 PPPs

I really dont understand how you can dislike a guy with those stats?

edit - all that in 45 games.

i'd wager to say 60-70% of NHL dman don't put up those numbers over a full 82 game season.

the stats are not the deciding factor for liking a player... Watching the games do it for me, I don't consider it dislike -> I like him as the 5th dman. It's similar to when everyone who didn't think Ovy was the best player in the world supposedly disliked him.

i guess i just dont understand how you see him as a bottom pairing dman.

stats aside, he was one of our best 2 dmen every night, and on a lot of nights our best dman.

In that case he's going to get paid, likely 4M+.

there's a reason he's fighting for a contract around 4mil over 6 years.

Ideally we'd all like him to sign south of 3.5mil; however, unless Liles is traded i just dont see it happening - which means he'll be traded.

how can you say this when you said this earlier in this same thread
Nick wroteCOLONI actually hate the real-life player Franson, but his BBKL # are legit. Likely the same way Nonis feels about him.
LOL consistency Facey!!

The one thing I will say about Franson is that his coach gained more and more trust in him as the year went on. Anytime your ice time increases during the playoffs the amount his did, it can only be viewed as a good thing. The kid needs to stay in that system and establish himself as a top end player before I would give him 4+ but he is definitely worth a 3-3.5M bridge type deal.

i agree with shook, it would be nice to get him signed into a bridge contract.

3.5ish? i believe if the leafs signed him to a 1 year deal he'd still be a RFA at years end.

win-win IMO
