i wouldn't trade Dion, not without a huge return.
our D would be horrible.
Dion takes too much crap, he's a good damn, he just needs some help back there.

And he needs to stop carrying the puck up on the pp because he's garbage at it. Carlyle also needs to limit his icetime imo. When he starts playing over 24 ..25 min he makes far too many mental gaffes.
Now when I say I'd trade him. I wouldn't just trade him for nothing. I'd want a hefty return. I'd still trade him though.

I agree, did you see his stats when After 40mins compared when he played more than 25mins and less than 25mins.KapG wroteCOLONAnd he needs to stop carrying the puck up on the pp because he's garbage at it. When he played in the 23-24min range his stats were x3 times better.

The New York Islanders announced today that Josh Bailey has agreed to terms on a five-year deal.

3.3 per for Josh Bailey
way too much right now, might be worth it in 3 years

Good is an understatement, Dion Phaneuf is an elite defenceman. Short of acquiring an elite #1 center, I wouldn't even consider trading Phaneuf.Big Fun wroteCOLONi wouldn't trade Dion, not without a huge return.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Phaneuf doesn't make any more mental mistakes than any other 25+ minute defenceman, and his results in that time have been nothing short of outstanding. His advanced metrics are great, his point totals ES and on the PP are in the top 10 for his position, and he passes the eye test.KapG wroteCOLONAnd he needs to stop carrying the puck up on the pp because he's garbage at it. If the Leafs were to trade him, they have no one on the team or in the minors that is capable of playing his minutes, and controlling the game at the defensive end. Gardiner and Rielly could likely replace the offense, but I don't want them playing #1 minutes against the oppositions best players night after night at their age.

Kostka is able to play Phaneuf's minutes

I could stand on the ice for 24 minutes a night as well. All I ask is minimum NHL salary.
