I had a friend ask me - would you trade Malkin for 2 guys at roughly 5M instead of the 9+M the Pens have to pay him? My answer was an immediate no...But the more I think about it, I wouldn't be shocked to see Malkin in another team's jersey in a couple of years if this team doesn't win a cup.

Even with Fleury though - you're going to have to get another goalie. Vokoun is gone after this year. And roughly 27M between Sid, Malkin and Letang. That's almost half the cap next year. Getting Kunitz for less than 4 was huge for them. If they win another cup then all is well. But if they lose 2 years in a row, trading Malkin seems like such a viable option.

And if you think about it - do Sharp + Hossa help Chicago more than Malkin helps PIT? Jeff Carter and Mike Richards for LA?
