I figured he was done with the NHL after this contract...that's why I got rid of him at last year's deadline. We all play contract hot potato in this league.
It's the same thing both ways: you have a guy? Try to divest and take a potential loss instead of losing him for nothing. Being offered him in a trade? Well, potential buy low for a small investment. It's risky either way.
Yep, I acquired Pascal Leclaire on the cheap 2 years ago. Then he retired. Woops!

Not a shock...Babs went with Colaiacovo as DeKeyser's replacement rather than White and after Lashoff didn't work out in the role. White should've been moved at the deadline for something rather than letting him rot in the press box. He's still a useful player...just didn't work out for him this past year without his buddy Nick.
What a travesty to the trophy. He was tied in NHL scoring for a dman, he wasn't even 1st on his team in ice time. He was not even top 30 in the NHL in ice time. 6th in SHTOI/G on his team.
He's a good dman, his offense is where he shined, but Letang had a better PPG. Karlsson last year crushed everybody so I understand the nod there. But here? I don't even believe Subban should have been a finalist let alone the winner.
Based on the nominations, Suter should have been the runaway victor. Most TOI in the NHL, most TOI/G, lead his team in SHTOI/G, 3rd in defense scoring.
