God awful move for Pittsburgh.

I don't care how many D prospects you have, you don't trade your best one for an over the hill regressing turtle who is an upcoming UFA.

Shiv who has a dominant BbKl team?

However it does hurt Shiv, morrow will likely displace one of Cooke or Dupuis(*) - giving Sid a line of Kunitz & Morrow will be very very good. Dupuis moves to suters wing where Cooke already is and you have 3 awesome lines.

Lol I'm joking..

I honestly doubt the penguins are done tbh. Wouldn't be surprised to see them still go after Iginla.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 22m
So it's B Morrow and a 3rd to PIT for J Morrow and a 5th to DAL.

Haha - I can completely relate with the NHL Penguins on this one. They have a window to win here like me. Morrow helps them a lot in the next year or two. Especially with the revolving door of wingers on Malkin's wing.

Lmao yea, it's funny how the real penguins and your team are similar.

How every trade like this ever is viewed:

the veteran - proven NHL talent for 10+ years but fuck he's too old, not a chance he ever regains his form, what a waste, should just retire

the prospect - not a chance this kid doesn't reach his absolute ceiling - future top pairing d-man right here. hasn't played a game in the NHL - fuck that, doesn't matter.

Agreed. If the Penguins get a cup out of it, completely worth it.

Also, Joe Morrow is sick but why is every player's value always associated with his absolute ceiling at such a young age. Especially with d-men, there is so much data to suggest that majority of projected ceilings are not met. Heck, even the ones that hit (Tyler Myers, Luke Schenn etc.), usually stumble at some point in time because flaws in their game are revealed after entering the league at 18/19 years of age.

HF boards are a joke. Might have been on there for all of three hours in my life. Awful source for anything hockey related.

I use it for news and transactions on trade deadline/free agency and shit mainly because there is always some nerd sitting on twitter feverishly waiting for news to pop up so he can be the first to post it.

but i generally try to avoid viewing anything other than the first post - once opinion gets involved, that place is a complete fucking disaster.

It's goes beyond HF in my opinion. Look at the number of GMs that have joined BBKL only to go prospect crazy. It's everywhere now. TSN's preseason/midseason/predraft rankings, the combine, the WJC, the first 9 games of the season, Twitter, Bloggers, Sports Radio. Never before have minor league players gotten this much attention. But the amount of time it takes or the value vs nhlers remains the same.

Well for me i am going for prospects for the fun factor. This league lost the fun for me when it was all about winning. Prospect value is up because the draft is more important than it used to be before the cap era. It is now essential to develope at least some of your own players now with how the long contracts have gone and the fact that you have a limited amount to spend. That is the reason for the added attention to prospects imo
