I heard they acquired Gardiner in exchange for RoR + 4th in 2014.

Checking sources.
I sure hope the avs would get more than just jake. I know ill get told off for saying that but as a third party fan here i think there needs to be something more goiing the avs way.

I acquired Tangradi as a throw-in for some deal recently. This could work out ok. He'll get a good look in different roles with the Jets methinks.

If Tangradi could focus on some scoring and not just lack of mistakes I believe he'll be a very good player. All the tools IMO.

Nick wroteCOLONI think it's insane to trade Jake, that was the hidden story in my joking comment.
It is the definition of a fair trade. Ryan O'Reilly is presently a 2-3 center, whereas Jake Gardiner is presently a 2-3 defenseman, both have the potential to be #1's, and fill the needs of the other team. It is also important to note that the Avalanche have an abundance of centerman, and the Leafs have an abundance of defenceman, this move makes a ton of sense for both teams.

Just like you don't want to part with Gardiner, most Avs fans don't want to part with O'Reilly.

If we turned down jake for ROR our management would be living in a fantasy world.

with EJ being out, it might actually help our case if there is some sort of a deal around those 2.

not like he didn't have a great opportunity already to start the year with the Pens.. several games alongside Malkin and Neal.

I'm consistently amazed by the 'quality' of the wingers the Pens keep putting on their top six.. Tangradi (7th rounder), Boychuk (Waivers), 'insertotherscrub'...

Shero even managed to trade J.Staal without addressing that everlasting problem.. didn't even try with the pick he got back and F.F. still on the board.

Good point. Besides Neal, neither of Dupuis/Kunitz are going to be consistent in production either. It may have worked all the way up til last year, but they need a pair of top 6 wingers to get back on that scoring. They dont have nearly as many blowout games anymore in fact I felt their scoring has gone down dramatically (dont have the stats to support this but only a general feeling after several games this season)

so they would give away the first skilled guy coming through their system in ages?

besides, i guess they would go for Kulemin instead.

I Don't think Clarke is garbage - he's not going to be the top scorer on a scoring line, but he's a nice 3rd guy IMO.

Kules would be the fit for next to Malkin, but he's already got a high end winger in Neal. Crosby however is playing with Kunitz and ScrubX... neither of whom are adding to his totals.

Truth is, IMO, they have less need on W to help scoring, than they do on D. They need some helpful puck movers back there. JmL!!!!!

MacA looks like he`s out for a casual skate while the kids carry the play.

IMO (at the NHL level) that translates to garbage.

Ponikarovsky acquired by NJD in exchange for a seventh-round pick at the 2013 NHL Draft and a fourth-round selection in 2014.
