More seems to get done when you get Don and Gary out of the way...

Yeah if Donald and Gary would stop waving their cocks around for 5 minutes something might get done.

What?

Nevermind...they read the thread on HF about them, eh? I haven't heard the episode yet...I hope I didn't hurt Marek's feelings. ;)

He seems to have taken it in stride. They read some much more scathing criticisms than yours.

so it looks like a legend of ours might be over..

Bruno Gervais will play in Germany for Heilbronn.

oh, and this:
Pascal Leclaire announced at l'antichambre that he's retiring from hockey RDS

probably not surprising by now, but still sad.

Was at the WHL vs Russia last night.

Really not a very physical game - and both teams were very dman dominant.

Reinhart is the stand out defensive D, reads the play, huge reach, very strong. His offensive game lacked patience or a read, but a few slappers had serious velocity.

Lowe was terrible, very confrontational with any Russian after the whistle, but terrible against this speed & skill level.

Pouliot was the reason for so many Russian scoring chances; nice skater and some good passes, but seriously brutal positioning and bad decisions. Pushed off the puck which lead to a goal, on a 2v2 he held the middle ground instead of covering his man, and a legit tape to tape pass to a russian cutting into the zone.

Wotherspoon (sp?) was pretty meh.

Reilly looked hurt. he was consistently having a weird look/motion with his left leg. He had some bad passes, but man his skating is quick and his stick handling the best on team WHL. He ALMOST had what would have been one of the highlights of the year: strips the puck of the russian behind the net, couple of turns spins and reversals later he was coming out behind the canadian net. A nice chip around the first forechecker, skates to puck, passes to a canadian forward at redline, who chips it right back to him as he continued up ice. HUGE toe-drag and cut on first dman, nice delay and second toe drag on last russian dman & a wicked shot that he released instantly from the depth of the toe-drag. High over the net :(

Lazar was easily the best canadian forward - despite being hurt. A little slow at top speed compared to a few others, but explosive is the word I'd use to describe him. He hit HARD, he finishes a lot of his checks with intent, crashes the net, owns his lane and his shots were always heavy.

McNeil was strong, and always in Nesterov's grill --couldn't seem to win a draw clean to his own team, but won a lot of draws hard forward. Pretty limited offensive impact but was definitely a key defensive player.

Rattie was fun to watch, but man he throws passes to no-one very often, included sparking russian rushes with nice little lobs just shy of the WHL dmen.

---------

Yak was always visible, but not of high impact. He's incredibly strong on his skates and his hands were exceptional - but didn't make much happen.

Their D- basically across the board, was impressive. Quick, strong and very slick stick handling - very hard to hit and gave the russian forwards nice passes to spark quick rushes.

Shalunov and Khoeckonov were probably the 2 best russian forwards, just always around the puck and consistently beating at least one check.

The russian size was an issue for Canadian forwards - a strength and size dominance.

-------

Reilly rocked HEAVY special team minutes, but wasn't used as much as I thought his play warranted 5v5, once again indicating to me he might be playing with an injury. His slap shot wasn't intimidating, fluffed a few one timers, but man his wrist-er has some jam to it. But he handled Yak 1:1 rushes several times, perhaps focusing on the puck, but man it never got by him - whether it was down low or guarding the blueline.

It was AWESOME to see hockey of this level again - seriously missed it.

The NHL should not be worried about the loss of the casual fan. They should be worried about the die hard fans who are finally getting fed up and sick of this BS. I know I am one of them. If it wasnt for BBKL and fantasy in general, I wouldn't be so quick to endorse the product of the game i love. It is really getting very old. I only wish NFL went on until April or so...
