I'd take Salo.

Briere is awful, one-dimensional, twice the cap-hit, as injury-prone as Salo and has "C" recognition but plays almost exclusively on the wing. They are both old at 38 and 35 (39 and 36 by next season).

There is literally nothing about Briere that makes me think "Damn, I have to get him on my team".

According to the after 40mins (about a month ago) they speculated that he probably would.

Back to the Sabres at 3mil is a great deal for Briere

Briere is considering retiring. He said he hasn't enjoyed playing hockey in about 5 years and that the lockout destroyed all motivation and love he had for the game. The off-season could change that, though.

Deal is pretty dependant on need too, value is pretty close as is, but if PHX needs a decent d man and has capable Cs no reason to not make this.
