Re: Trade: DET/TOR
For anyone that wants to talk trade for active warm bodies...I'm probably good for now. I'm at 50 contracts and I think I've now added at least 2 (maybe 3 depending Huskins) that are playing on a fairly regular basis. There's only one week left in the actual season...and beyond that, just need to play the best 18 skater lineup to get me the most GP possible. I've been keeping track of that stat like a hawk this year. I pretty much need to get to 15-17 regulars a week (playing 3 or 4 games a week) and I should be alright. I've been hovering around 13 or 14 regulars. If can ever get to 18 full-time guys, then I'm sitting pretty. I'm not far off the pace but I just don't want to lose many more games with 5 actual hockey weeks left.
Re: Trade: DET/TOR
there goes the true 1st overall waiver pick.. but mike overpaid as fuck for chris kelly so w/e
Re: Trade: DET/TOR
Scott.. you need to hold onto these assets. Desjardins is a plug.
Put it this was: Desjardins or Brunner?

This deal makes no sense for Scott. Putting in the work to find a gem with the 1st waiver alone is worth more to his team that is trying find its way back to the back...
Re: Trade: DET/TOR
I will gladly help any of the newer, lower ranked teams find someone in the waiver draft as opposed to trading them for scraps to someone like Mike. No offense, Mike.

Re: Trade: DET/TOR
I'll deal with any blowback on this deal...another move of desperation, which I'll acknowledge. I did at least get a draft pick back so I didn't throw the waiver pick away all together. My 1st rounders this year and next are my most important assets to me...I need to make sure those keep their max value.
I don't know what the exact punishment is for missing out on GP...someone please fill me in if you know...but if it was the difference between getting the 1st overall and maybe the 4th or 5th overall in the entry draft...I would still get a very good player at that spot but to have the 1st overall is a position of power where I'm going to have the ability to make a move (or moves) that will benefit me going forward. I'll be interested to see who goes in the waiver draft but again, why would I risk losing the #1 overall when I don't have to?

Re: Trade: DET/TOR
I would've said Dekeyser and Sustr...but they were taken in this last draft. Is there a hot shot Euro free agent? It's far too early to speculate...that's kinda why I'm not sweating this move. He wanted a 2nd round pick...which I didn't have. I basically traded the waiver pick, which can probably go up to 1st round value but could also just be a 2nd round value. Hence, I got that 3rd rounder in return...which is something.

Re: Trade: DET/TOR
Oh, Matt Grassi? Never heard of him...doesn't look like he did all that much with State. 3 points in 41 games this year...

Re: Trade: DET/TOR
This waiver draft is gonna suck the big names in Laganiere DeKeyser and Sustr were taking a year prior.
Re: Trade: DET/TOR
I got michael haley who looks like he may get an extended look now that Halpern waived.
