not sure i agree with billy, i think this is pure rape....and like kareem said, it has to be top 5, maybe even top 3...

Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Nikitin is no slouch and Carolinas pick will be top 10 in a draft with some high end talent.

Nikitin is good but McD is a beast, and a prospect who is 2 or 3 years away after the draft isn't enough imo either.

what josh said, even tho he's a sens fan he's not totally lost!

Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Is it not consensus that Carolina's pick is a lottery pick? Between my Carolina and Dallas picks I have two top 5 picks at least in a very top heavy draft coming up. Not trying to bash paul's team or anything, but I just don't see that pick being any lower than 5, where I see 6 apparent studs in this draft. And Nikitin is in a very good situation and his numbers last year were nonetheless impressive, I could see McDonagh declining in peripherals slightly, Nikitin continuing to improve, and grabbing what I consider an easy lottery pick. Very happen with this deal from my pov, love the upcoming draft. From a flip perspective I traded Rielly and a first for a pick I prefer to Rielly (with all the Cs in the upcoming draft) and Nikitin who is much more valuable then the first, second, and whatever other little piece I gave up in the process. Come on Brad Richards went for a lottery pick.

I don't feel like any of Mackinnon, Jones, Monahan, or Lazar will take any longer than a year to make the nhl, if I were to get any of those players with that pick.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONNikitin is good but McD is a beast, and a prospect who is 2 or 3 years away after the draft isn't enough imo either.

I also expect a slight decline in McDonaghs shtoi (Marc Staal healthy) but not much still should be around 200
Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Yeah, personally I like Mcdonagh>Staal, but it leaves potential for decline. Even though if McDonagh saw less defensive role I could see his offense increasing slightly. Overall he's a great player, my reasoning for the deal is as simple as I think I can fill some huge holes with a few high picks at the draft next year, and I feel like Nikitin can easily fill the hole mcd left on my rosterbills09 wroteCOLONI also expect a slight decline in McDonaghs shtoi (Marc Staal healthy) but not much still should be around 200
