Re: PIT/STL
I definitely agree with this. I'd rather wilson and I'd also rather Kronwall. For this year alone it isn't that terrible of a deal though.bills09 wroteCOLONshiv rapes IMO

Re: PIT/STL
As expected.
Anyways, as long as Trotz is the Coach in Nashville, Wilson is useless. If Whitney gets 60pts this year I'm more than happy with that swap. Streit will out-point Kronwall by at least 10, and is close enough in periphs (other than SHTOI) that it's only a slight loss.
But, given that in this league if you turn 30 years old there are only 10 teams in the league that have any interest in you, re-sale value may be tough.

I wouldn't have made this deal if I didn't like it for me but man there is some overreaction in this thread...Whitney is coming off an 80 point season (i think only 12 players had more points than him) and if you actually look at the numbers Streit isnt that far off from Kronwall.

On a 2-year contract though...Line 1 is probably going to be something like Whitney - Derek Roy - Eriksson or Whitney - Benn - ErikssonKapG wroteCOLONwhitney is also 40 years old shiv.

Re: PIT/STL
As I told Shiv last night, Streit/Kronwall difference didn't bother me, trading Wilson didn't bother me. The only problem for me was Whitney came off back to back 58pt seasons before putting up a 77pt season at the age of 39 in a contract year for what will most likely be his final contract in the NHL (unless he pulls a Roberts).
After much deliberation, I looked at who Whitney would be playing with this year and determined he'd be able to put up 65+pts, and given that people gunning for the playoffs will be looking for a guy like him, but like when I traded him this past season for a solid haul, it felt like a no brainer.
At this point Wilson is living off his name and draft position. And Kronwall I love and should flouish as the #1 guy, he only has 1 season above 40pts. He doesn't have the offensive instinct that Streit has. Only thing that'll be going for him is an increase in ice time.
But who would you rather have feeding you the puck on the point, Ian White or Niklas Lidstrom? We'll see what happens.

Re: PIT/STL
at 40 years of age, you become far more susceptible to injuries. Lot's of risk for Shep to take on in this trade. I know you know this too or you wouldn't have made it
As long as whitney stays healthy until Shep can trade him, everything should be OK though...

Re: PIT/STL
My team isn't looking to win in 2018. I go for it every year. If you can name me a player that is going to get 65+ points I could have gotten for Colin Wilson, than maybe this is a bad trade. Looking at last years numbers, there isn't a single player that I could trade Wilson (and a little bit, because face it, Whitney CRUSHES Wilson) for.KapG wroteCOLONwhitney is also 40 years old shiv.

Ps I wouldn't just call it wilson for Whitney straight up....Kronwall is worth a lot more than Streit IMO (and I love streit)

^^ Says the guy who won't trade for anyone who is old

Re: PIT/STL
I wouldn't call it straight up either, but the different between Whitney and Wilson is significantly more than Streit and Kronwall. Kronwall crushes in SHTOI and has a solid advantage in BS, the rest is close and Streit gets 10+ more points.KapG wroteCOLONwas just a response to Shiv saying everyone is overreacting.Shep wroteCOLONMy team isn't looking to win in 2018. Re: PIT/STL
I was telling Cliff last night, that everybody would say I got raped. And namesake, maybe I do. But statswise, I win by a large margin. So I might have more trouble re-selling Streit and Whitney, but it's a statsbased league, and the numbers favor my end heavily. Shiv knew this, but he also knew he was getting more "league-wide" value based on the names he was getting.
