Was he not hurt off and on basically all year, what about JJ then?gooker wroteCOLONWiz was already a part of CBJ by the time Nikitin was already playing full time role, and Wiz's arrival never really affected Niktin's playing time.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONYou forget how many D the BJs have added as well as a few up and coming prospects and a full year from Wiz as well though, there is a significant chance Nikitin sees a reduced role from last year, and if the offense was a flash in the pan than where does it leave you, as his periphs leave much to be desired.
FWIW SK is worth much more to me than CAR 1st this far from the draft as well.

no real questions on the gamelog imo, had some extra minutes in december but meh, scoring stayed pretty steady
Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Sorry Josh, I actually did mean JJ, which was the latest CBJ acquisision on their back end, and Nikitin was strong even after his arrival IMO, I still dont like the trade for Pete (for the pick), but Nikitin is one of the more underrated, solid NHLer who will see no problems getting ice time. If anything, he is their 4th or 5th best D-man in CBJ (JJ/Wiz/Tyutin/Methot)Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONWas he not hurt off and on basically all year, what about JJ then?gooker wroteCOLONWiz was already a part of CBJ by the time Nikitin was already playing full time role, and Wiz's arrival never really affected Niktin's playing time.Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONYou forget how many D the BJs have added as well as a few up and coming prospects and a full year from Wiz as well though, there is a significant chance Nikitin sees a reduced role from last year, and if the offense was a flash in the pan than where does it leave you, as his periphs leave much to be desired.

Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
They traded Methot for Nick Foligno, and I think he can work his way to Wisniewsky ice time, Jack Johnson is there number one. He's a clear number 3, with a slight chance to be number 2, plus he puts up big numbers.gooker wroteCOLONSorry Josh, I actually did mean JJ, which was the latest CBJ acquisision on their back end, and Nikitin was strong even after his arrival IMO, I still dont like the trade for Pete (for the pick), but Nikitin is one of the more underrated, solid NHLer who will see no problems getting ice time. Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Imagine...I picked up Nikitin on free agency....lol The guy is a stud and has earned his increased role. He is a BBKL type of d-man.
Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
You know shit's getting real when we argue who the # 2/3 dman on the Columbus Blue Jackets is.

Interesting read via NHL.com's blueliner ranking article, a part of the article reads:
Watch out Pitkanen owner, I'm comin for you
Full article here: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=640560There are a handful of players toward the bottom of our rankings or just outside of the top-60 that could be steals come draft day. Brendan Smith, Nikita Nikitin, Ryan Ellis and Jared Spurgeon might be forgotten by many of the owners in your draft as they all have higher-profile teammates. Each of the four could pay huge dividends, with Nikitin possibly leading his team in defensive scoring. You'd also be wise to keep an eye on Stefan Elliott, Jake Gardiner and Travis Hamonic, as they will all be playing regular NHL minutes on improving teams.

Surprised Josh declined. SK and Leddy suck ass.Peter wroteCOLONI really feel like my asking price was consistent with the deal though! the value of that pick is worth the second piece that I wanted to add. Like in comparison I asked Josh for Leddy and SK. He flat out declined it no real consideration. Statistically whats the difference between Leddy and Nikitin? well Nikitin was a little better last season during his BJ stint, but Leddy has his upside, I'd argue they are similarly valuable defenders, with maybe a slight edge to Leddy. So then you compare SK vs this draft pick. In all likeliness that draft pick becomes a much more valuable piece than SK in a years time, a much more valuable players within time, and as a rebuilding team, I'd much rather have the upside of that pick. From a positional pov, this draft is loaded with Centermen, and highly touted centers have a knack for delivering over time, given the past 6 years history of Centers picked in the top 10, so upside wise I'm getting a player much better than SK, worst case scenario with time that players maybe puts up similar numbers. Obviously I took the patient route, but is there any other route to take with my team? No, not really. I feel that my value has been consistent and after much bartering this is the best I could do while making a trade I'm happy with. I think I won the cycle within this trade, involving what I paid for McDonagh and what I sold him for, and I think in the long run I make more out of this trade than what McDonagh would have offered me. BBKL consensus is often wrong anyways.Shep wroteCOLONNikitin is not unknown. He's awesome. Just comparing what Ive heard about the asking price, and the final deal.
As the owner of the 2nd and 5th overall picks in this last draft, I can safely say, even on the clock on draft day, the value of a Top 5 pick has gone down significantly over the last 3 years.

Re: Trade: TOR/DAL (goodbye mcdonagh)
Leddy's sick but yeah definitely wouldn't have been a win deal for me, anyways though you traded me my pick for Versteeg who is quite valuable. Etem + Buf pick = brad richards, 4th overall last year landed me Couturier, and it seems this years draft is loaded with bbkl type centermen, so I dont see why this pick would be any less valuable. I don't even care about the value of the pick though, building through the draft is the only way to rebuild a destroyed franchise like mine and actually obtain those elite level playersShep wroteCOLONSurprised Josh declined.
