Its odd though as in real life I think koivu and L Eriksson are the most underrated players in the nhl. I think with Suter and Parise going to Minny that will change for mikko this year, no idea when loui gets any credit.

Pietrangelo's a no brainer when you look at the numbers. Also, Letang and Edler put up Weber-like stats for half the cap-hit which is the invaluable part. All the d-men you mentioned are sick. Most of them just carry unreal price tags.

But to be clear, I'm basing my evaluation on the player, and not just the numbers - Edler is not in THAT tier of dman.

You also have no wingers. Talk to me when your team is a Top 3 Contender (not a knock btw because you can easily be a Top 3 Contender - your team has unreal assets and IMO could be made unstoppable by 2-3 trades to acquire depth).

But here, I'll add a caveat:

Every contender has 3-5 High Cap Players. However, these high-cap players make it very difficult to maintain dominance throughout the lineup. I'd much rather have Edler than Weber because of this because stats are near identical with an edge to Weber of course but worth spending 4M more in cap? That's an entire elite Wingers worth of cap i.e. Chris Kunitz.

Of course, this "Trade-Off" is non-existent to a team that is still in the process of building. I.e. Weber long-term is a better asset for a team like Carolina in BBKL to hold than say Edler who's cap goes up. But Letang is easily > Weber even long term because his cap hit is amazing for a few more years.

Also - Giroux is your most valuable asset ahead of Crosby and Stamkos and Weber due to this fact.
