Not sure I understand the hate for Pete on this one.

He came last this year (though inherited a shitshow). He now has full control over his team and pick next year. Pick could very easily be 1st overall, and we've all seen the payments those picks get. He'll get double this payment for the 1st rounder alone at the draft in 2013.

Difference is, I'm not waiting that long to cash in. No Patience Shep makes impulse deals.

I dunnu I got the pick, I paid up, I probably would be trying to compete this coming year if I didnt have it, but in the end, I didn't give up any assets that I feel like I'll really regret moving, I added a pick that could inflate crazy in value if I crash and burn, and I think strome is better than any of the futures I gave up, or maybe even all of them together (arguable). I think shep won the deal, I just wanted those 2 pieces going forward, this DAL team is just going to get younger and younger.

Not bad trade all around.

I'd prefer Shep's side of the deal because IMO Bjustad > Strome: Vey, late first & steeg for a year long wait lottery pick - seems about right.
