If Pronger retires due to a severe injury (and it is deemed legitimate, entire process...) he get's back all of the money he is owed through his insurance. The Flyers would be on the hook for his cap though.Shep wroteCOLONPronger won't retire. Makes no sense.
If he retires:
- He loses all money he is owed
- His cap hit stays on the books due to 35+ contract
If he sits out until his contract expires:
- He gets paid
- Philly gets cap relief for him being on LTIR

That was simply my point, and look at Giroux go at it already. Probably not close to returning, but Crosby didn't even think about practice at least til what, 3-4 months after the sit-out?I wroteCOLONGiroux/Skinner/Michalek all are showing this "symptom", but I highly doubt any of them will be out nearly as long as Crosby did because in sports medicine, same "symptom" can happen to any player even though the player did not suffer as hard a hit as Crosby did, or even suffer a head injury for that matter. I'm very curious and interested to know as to what this "concussion-like symptom" these players are suffering in common from.
