Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Why do you have Steckel listed on the RW, and Lombardi on the third line?
Edit: just read the article (which is wrong)

Also, Steckel plays the wing, he just happens to take the FOMSP4LYFE wroteCOLONWhy do you have Steckel listed on the RW, and Lombardi on the third line?

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Yeah, I just saw, whoever wrote it is mistaken about the 4th line, Steckel is quite clearly the 4th line center, and I question the Komisarek rumors. Seems like speculation more than anything, my instincts tell me it will be Gardiner who takes a seat.

Steckel has played, and been listed at center in each game this season...The Devil wroteCOLONAlso, Steckel plays the wing, he just happens to take the FOMSP4LYFE wroteCOLONWhy do you have Steckel listed on the RW, and Lombardi on the third line?

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
I agree with this. Steckel needs to play on the boards because that's the best place to utilize his size, his massive wingspan, and protect against his slow foot startup. The Devil wroteCOLONAfter the FO Steckel is clearly a winger from the games I've watchedMSP4LYFE wroteCOLONSteckel has played, and been listed at center in each game this season...The Devil wroteCOLONAlso, Steckel plays the wing, he just happens to take the FOMSP4LYFE wroteCOLONWhy do you have Steckel listed on the RW, and Lombardi on the third line?
Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
playing wing is not a protector of slow foot-speed...if anything it magnifies it as Wing is a start and stop position, and not one that allows momentum/flow.
i've seen him with shifts where he switches to wing post face-off, and shifts where he stays at C, typically seems to be when he is on the 4th line, or where he is just there for the draw and then to get off when possib;e

He covers basically one side of the ice rather than three.Nick wroteCOLONplaying wing is not a protector of slow foot-speed...if anything it magnifies it as Wing is a start and stop position, and not one that allows momentum/flow.

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
He played with Brown and Orr/Rosehill, are you saying one of them played center...? I can see the argument if you are referring to late in games, and for the purpose of a key defensive draw, but those are situational minutes, and does not change the fact that Steckel is a center.

LOL what? If anything playing the center ice position masks that...It's one of the main reasons Jordan Staal isn't utilized as a winger on Pittsburgh, that and he is a fantastic defensive center.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLON and protect against his slow foot startup.

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Errr, no. It doesn't. A centre should be quick, versatile, and capable of clogging the neutral zone with his speed, as well as supporting the defense as the wingers need to cover the boards and a very small section of the ice. It's okay Kareem. Some of us have played hockey, you clearly haven't.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONLOL what? Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
This just in: it's better to be a fast hockey player than a slow one.
Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Staal's actually pretty quick on his start-ups - straight line, decent. Not the most agile, but he's big enough to compensate. Steckel is not a good east-west skater. At all.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONLOL what? Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Well no shit. Would you rather a big and slow centre or a big and quick centre? Pretty obvious that Steckel switches to the wing, as he has his entire career, after the draw. Not always, but usually against faster lines.Mike wroteCOLONThis just in: it's better to be a fast hockey player than a slow one.
Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Most of the shifts I seen him taking were with Lombardi.. who would be the C on that line and probably explains why Lombardi only has 3 FOWs thus far.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONHe played with Brown and Orr/Rosehill, are you saying one of them played center...?
