Question
Re: Question
If they're entry draft eligible.. yes, as far as I know. Just nobody waiver draft eligible.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONCan we sign FA draftees now that the draft is over? There was a period of 2 weeks or so that we were allowed to last season IIRC.

Re: Question
We did it last season, and it is permitted in the NHL, so I don't see why not.Shep wroteCOLONI asked this question and was told I couldn't ..
Re: Question
Yes, of course..MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI believe the rule is only one player per 24 hours though.
Re: Question
rules were discussed, approved and posted by CC on the entry draft board:

Re: Question
No window this year guys -> was decided that we don't get the info accurately anyways, so instead of a 24hour window after the entry draft those players that signed are eligible for the waiver draft (very logical). This was posted well in advance.
Re: Question
I'm not sure if that has been discussed,I wouldn't be opposed to a 24-hour window after the waiver draft. Lots of GM's end up not even using their waiver selections, so there needs to be some incentive for the GM's that do work (and have some interesting undrafted signee's- but remember, unsigned they are still eligible for entry draft).
Re: Question
if they are signed by NHL teams, yes.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONBut we have the opportunity to sign them after the waiver draft, correct?
However, if the player is still eligible for the next entry draft, he will be available as FA only till roster submission.

mmh.. not sure what you are referring to.facey wroteCOLONI'm not sure if that has been discussed,I wouldn't be opposed to a 24-hour window after the waiver draft.
After the waiver draft, i thought NHL-signed players were all claimable with the only time limit (roster submission) applying to players that are still eligible for the next entry draft?

Re: Question
NHL clubs have two weeks post draft to sign undrafted players to tryout contracts, or attain their rights. I don't understand why our rules should be any different.
Re: Question
7th rounders and Waiver draft 2nd and 3rd rounders already don't hold much value, such free period made them even more useless.
We are not the NHL, they don't have a Waiver draft so there goes the comparison.
We think this new system helps us making things clearer and easier to manage.

Re: Question
Using that logic, why do we even have a cap? I mean we have a waiver draft right, so there goes that comparison...kyuss wroteCOLON7th rounders and Waiver draft 2nd and 3rd rounders already don't hold much value, such free period made them even more useless.

Re: Question
the Waiver draft is strictly related with this CC decision though, the cap is not.

Re: Question
The point, quite clearly, is that this league is predicated on authenticity to the NHL. The only reason we have a waiver draft is to strengthen weaker teams, an element that is necessary due to the lack of UFA. It is the exception, not the rule, and certainly not precedence to eliminate FA drafting moving forward.kyuss wroteCOLONthe Waiver draft is strictly related with this CC decision though, the cap is not.
Furthermore, I was in the CC longer than you, I don't need a reminder of the rules...
I repeat, the real NHL allows a two week period for teams to sign or invite non draftees to camp, and it is a system we have implemented in the past. There is no reason to discontinue this system, provided it occurs post dispersal draft.
Re: Question
not sure where i provided a reminder of the rules that were in place when you were a CC member.
As for the system, from the end of the Waiver draft onward there will be a wide window to sign bbkl-FA.

Rules was the wrong choice of word, I was referencing the comment that the waiver draft is a CC decision.kyuss wroteCOLONnot sure where i provided a reminder of the rules that were in place when you were a CC member.
Re: Question
We should abolish the waiver draft anyone.. it's gay.
