Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
He'll be only 33 when his new deal expires.
Going to be one of the best centers in the game in future yrs and once the cap rises some more along the next few seasons his cap hit will look much better.
Still, this upcoming season would be more complicated for me to fit him under the cap, so if I get a decent offer I'll take the easy way out and deal him.
One thing to consider, Caps moved Mojo which means Kuznetsov will finally be a regular on PP1, the numbers he put up the last 2 seasons were produced while playing on PP2...

Re: Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
you can still do it
Re: Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
Quite an expensive 2nd line center.
Re: Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
actually I think the money Backstrom makes is still fair once he's the 2nd line C for the Caps
Re: Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
I'd venture to say Backstrom still outproduces Kuzy at age 33 to Kuzy at 29 and Backstrom at 37 to Kuzy at 33.
Re: Evgeny Kuznetsov on the block
you venture to say a lot of crap so this isn't surprising

Ask Pittsburgh how that's working for them. It's not a big deal if you have a few guys making most of the money...it's about who they fill out the rest of the roster. Helps that they've been able to pull guys out of the minors. Even they've had to let some key vets walks like Bonino and Kunitz.
The Caps are in good shape even with the big raise for Kuznetsov. Makes Backstrom's old contract look like a bargain. Holtby's cap number is great in terms of all other starting goalies. There's a lot of money on their defense...plus Carlson is due for a contract next year.
They've lost Williams and Alzner and traded away Johansson...didn't re-sign Shattenkirk either. They retained Oshie to keep together that productive top line. They've definitely got some holes in their lineup now...and just $9.2 million under the cap to work with. McLellan will have to be creative.

Are you seriously trying to compare Kuzy to Malkin?Shoalzie wroteCOLONCasperX22 wroteCOLONQuite an expensive 2nd line center.
