Have you guys read any of this?
This Colin Cambell, Gregory and Savard stuff? Looks quite legit and could be a major news story. Campbell is really pretty dirty. The league has some serious issues...lol

Re: Have you guys read any of this?
what exactly is the issue with Savard in there Kyle? I read through the case about the referee just missing the savard connection.

I just copied and pasted the article..
Campbell Emails Raise Questions About Impartiality
A Fascinating piece from blogger Tyler Dellow. It's lengthy but you really should read the whole thing, a lot of referee related gold in there. Eight e-mails from Colin Campbell there, including 2 advocating for his son in which he complains of calls against his son Gregory Campbell, one of which was sent after hearing a perceived wrong call on the radio. In one e-mail Colin Campbell calls a player (Marc Savard) a "Little Fake Artist"
A couple quotes (including the Savard e-mail) From the piece:
Quote:
As I’ve mentioned before, I troll CanLII for interesting cases involving the NHL. It’s generally lousy stuff - a lot of bad divorces - but every so often you find something awesome. Like Dean Warren’s labour relations case with the league after it fired him as a referee. The gist of the case was this:

A bend in the road is a dead end if you round the corner and Dean Warren is standing there. Your answer re: his high stick calls and the score of the game were horse ****. The 3rd call on [player] was while they were down 5 on 4 and on a def zone face off vs that little fake artist [player] I had him in [city] biggest faker going
Edit2: JABEE found the actual case and posted the link if you want to have a look, here it is: http://www.canlii.org/eliisa/highlig...nlii58123.html
Edit3: Updated Opening post again.

Wow... Colin Campbell's a dirtbag... Really curious to see if this gets any play in the media. Kudos to the blogger.
Re: Have you guys read any of this?
agree Mike. This could really become big in relation to the NHL. Feel bad for Gregory Campbell. I am curious to see what main stream media might run with this first or even at all. I guess there is two possible story lines. Him having a grudge against former players or him complaining about refereeing in games involving his son. Also the GM's requesting certain refs for games in the playoffs is kinda nice isnt it...jeez..Starpainter wroteCOLONWow... Colin Campbell's a dirtbag... Re: Have you guys read any of this?
Its also speculated that possibly the reason for Matt Cooke not being suspended for his hit on Savard was due to campbells distaste for Marc.
Re: Have you guys read any of this?
Well it is no known secret that Savard early in his career had a known reputation as a diver and a "fake" but to see it in writing from the head disciplinarian for the league, screams impartiality in decision making. When a guy in his power is holding personal grudges and therefore making decision involving these players, a major conflict of interest is there. I wonder if anything will come of this?

Bullshit if Campbell doesn't get fired.

I'm sorry... I don't see what has everyone up in arms to this extent.. yes there are some dumb ass emails throughout this... but... hmm...

Cookes hit, although a cheap shot, wasn't illegal at the time he made it and there for was not disciplined. They put in the blindside rule because they didn't want hits like this to happen again. Don't see the connection here.
There are measures put in place to make sure Campbell can't give his son a leg up so any question there about colin is just under education on the matter. So if he isn't in charge of anything disciplinary why can't he ask the refs if it was a bad call? Also there is a process and criteria they go through to make every suspension. If there is any area in which things aren't handled fair well that would be the old star rule.Bullshit if Campbell doesn't get fired.
Also Savy is a little diving artist, if anyone says otherwise they haven't watched him ever. Keep in mind I say this not as a leafs fan or a bruins fan, but a guy that cheers on the bruins quite often because of a hatred for the leafs and habs. So saying I have a hate on for Savard or for the Bruins would be 100% off base.
I think this has been blown so far out of proportion its not even funny. I think alot of these emails need the context of the previous emails going back and forth to have any relevance what so ever. It is human nature to have bias and opinions on different players so for anyone to say that Campbell needs to lose his job because he is impartial is dumb. The next guy would have just as much bias and maybe even more than him. The NHL thought of this wayy before these emails got out and that is why one person is never solely in charge of a suspension. Campbell is the head but not the only person involved in these decisions.
I honestly can't believe how big of a deal this has all become....
Re: Have you guys read any of this?
It seems to me that people are speculating w/o really thinking about all given details.
The relationship to Cooke's hit on Savard??? Aside form *maybe* calling Savard the fake artist (there is NO evidence to truly narrow down the game as the writer suggests) but even if there is (as in I missed what should be a fairly obvious link), people need to check the date on these emails. That hit is 3 years after these emails.
Anyways, I really don't seem to question NHL management as much as others

Re: Have you guys read any of this?
The language with which he describes the officials and players alone is grounds for dismissal IMO. Completely unprofessional.facey wroteCOLONIt seems to me that people are speculating w/o really thinking about all given details.

Re: Have you guys read any of this?
Personally I'm majorly against emails being seen as being property of the company/organization/etc. IMO they are more like phone calls and person to person interaction (aka conversation) then they are currently viewed. I know that I personally send some very informal messages with individuals that I know well, with the understanding that they'd get any jokes or exaggerations.
