I'd like to just make a post to outline the pros and cons here for the CC:

If you reject the trade:

Pros
-rules are rules and should be enforced
-does not set a bad precedent (although trades have been allowed after deadline in the past)

Cons
-league activity is discouraged
-was a trade posted after 1 hour really that big of a deal in terms of why this league exists?

If you allow the trade

Pros
-GMs involved are happy
-League competitiveness does go up
-Playoffs become more interesting

Cons
-Again, precedence

^One final thought on this. I think the decision will come down to a simple priority:

Either: Rules above all and that's that
OR: Exceptions can be made by the CC when the impact on the league is really not a big deal

Depending on how you prioritize those two things, a decision will be reached. I'm fine with either.

MY OPINION -- the CC should be empowered to interpret/make decisions on what we define as our "constitution". Is the essence of a law -- e.g. a Trade Deadline -- to specifically prevent a trade from being posted at 6:01? Or is it to have an end deadline for trades in our league after which playoff teams can no longer make moves and non-playoff teams can land value? In this interpretation, I believe it is much better to let the trade go through by saying a "2 hour grace period" on trade submissions on the day of the deadline does not really kill the league.

That's what I'm saying look at the bigger picture. Is rules of the league some sorta Islamic code kinda strictness lol lets not behead GMs for starting his prayer at 9pm when it should've been at 7pm lol

We come to have fun here. Only reason why I'm even talking to shiv again is cuz he made a great offer. Otherwise I hated him up until then lol
Talk about trade reuniting some old foes sheessh

I actually also think this is why some people in this thread turned on Mik. Reason why is that to people in the league, the CC is a position of power. One of my favourite high school teachers taught me that there is a time for Vengeance/Punishment, there's a time for Mercy and there's a time for Grace...and the law is just words written on paper. The interpretation of that and applying it to the right scenario at the right time with the right amount of force is the key to a happy society.

If people feel like this is a time for Mercy/Grace (because 2 hours past deadline is not a big deal when you're getting killed at work), but the CC implements punishment/force -- then the people as in any society of order will start point fingers at the people in power (I will not be one of them, the CC has my full support).

My final 2 cents on this topic.

so next year, with a 2 hour grace period, a trade is posted 2 hours and 1 minute...

people will be saying, oh it's only a minute.

It's not like the people involved are new here.

I couldn't care less one way or the other to be honest, but for next year we need to be rigid for sure on the rules.

Tough call. But I think what's kept the league together has been the rigidness of the rules. I don't know how many times I've seen a league crumble with loosey-goosey rules and enforcement. I almost feel spoiled by what Mik and Scott (and others) bring to the league. As much as Lee and I butt heads (calm down Matthew) I agree with tightening the rope a little around here so we stay afloat (such as inactivity). Definitely something interesting stuff to go over this summer...

Another issue that needs to be addressed... You can quit over this trade stuff if you want. I won't criticize.

Just pointing out that ur point is out of context. Trading itself promotes activity and more or less believe is good for the league. Because we failed to meet a fucking deadline time, it doesn't indicate inactivity, rebellion, or any sort of contribution to leagues detriment... Like God lol basically I get it, people who agree with letting trade go thru are those that made the deal and vice versa for those who didn't and are just jealous lol but cmon let's not get shit twisted lol

The ridiculously busy days at work happen, and it is hard to balance TDL day and our real lives.

I think if the PM's show an agreement, then it's just a posting issue which was delayed by real life.

I get the rules being the rules, but the definition can be debated over. Does it say explicitly that you must POST the deal with Confirmation? I think that may matter to people on the side of sticking to the rules.

I think it should be posted. We knew when the deadline was for a long time. No real excuses for not getting it done earlier.

As I've said, either way this goes is fine but a quicker resolution would be appreciated, Iginla has scored tonight and would be nice to know if this is counting for me or not....
