that's fair, I can appreciate the positional needs, I just view that as short-sighted. BPA will eventually fit the team or allow to trade for a better asset that fills a need (IMO) - whereas passing on a superior prospect (according to the teams own scouting of course) could easily result in a prospect that never fills the role you identified as a need, nor any organizational depth added or trade chip. Obviously this isn't really the case in the top 10, but the principle holds.

Marner vs Crouse would be a very tough choice for me, I love both prospects and can see them both being impact players.

Strome vs Marner vs Crouse vs Ratanen I find difficult to draw a line actually, and can see a point made for any one of them before the others. Hanafin however I see a clear case as the most likely to be the best player, and like the highest ceiling prospect of the 5.

For some reason from my relatively limited viewings I think there are more questions with Strome & Ratanen than the two wingers. I don't like that they haven't been 'the guy', I find their skating a concern given the game today and can easily see them not ever becoming a truly dyanmic/impact NHLer.

(#39 BBKL) Jordan Greenway = #57 Edmonton
(#157 BBKL) Martins Dzierkals = #113 Washington
(#163 BBKL) Stephen Desrocher = #160 San Jose
(#167 BBKL) Trevor Moore = #180 Chicago
(#177 BBKL) Dmitri Zhukenov = #153 Tampa Bay
(#186 BBKL) Dmitri Yudin = #207 Montreal
(#196 BBKL) David Jankowski = Undrafted. I believe he will prove his high offensive worth later.
(#201 BBKL) Vyacheslav Leschenko = #170 Detroit
(#207 BBKL) Rodrigo Abols = Undrafted. I believe he will do well in the KHL, and eventually earn a contract with an NHL team.

This is great. After the draft we can have a ' 2015 BBKL Draft Position VS Prediction VS NHL Draft Position AND Predict their future 3 years from now'' Thread. Then we can look back at it later to view their development.

I think this thread should stay in the draft section cause:

1- it's specifically about the draft
2- it's the kind of thread that we may want to look back at in future yrs, and keeping it in the draft board would keep it handy

in a new thread or in this one? cause if it's a new one I guess that's the one which should be archived in the draft secton instead of this one.

Fraser wroteCOLONYea I see Barzal going at either #6 or #9 if the current teams that holds their picks stand.

I see the non-crouse consensus top 5 holding.

No way Crouse or Rantanen goes to Philly at 7. Crouse has no hands and Rantanen can't skate :).

Brazal hasn't shown anywhere near the level of Crouse or Ratannen. Both of them showed well at u20 this past season - Brazal had a strong u18 showing sure, & in a weaker CHL division he showed his playmaking skills but little else. His shot isn't even good by CHL scoring standards. I get you like him but he's he least tested piece of the 3 you are comparing. Less than 20G in the ChL in draft year doesn't suggest big totals in the show.

ISS & central scouting have Crouse in top 5, no one has Barzal there (8 at highest) & ratenen is the top euro forward, some say top euro in this draft. Just don't see the love for Barzal compared to these two.
...

This kind of offensive skill combined with a strong two-way defensive play, willingness to bock shots and compete level physically on plays despite not having exceptional size. He just screams BBKL keeper to me.
In my (few) viewings I actually saw suspect compete level and defensive play, I think entering the draft those are considered more question marks than strengths.

As for Rantanen, if he turns out to be the best Euro out of this draft, then this draft will have been quite the disappointment from a Euro perspective.

yeah, I really don't think he will last beyond 32.. I actually expect him to go in the 1st.

Dzierkals and Zhukenov, I expect them to go later than that, if they do get drafted. That doesn't mean they don't deserve to be drafted, I'd definitely spend a 6th or 7th on Dzierkals.

Yudin, Leschenko and Abols, I'm fine with your prediction (draft wise at least)
