I was on the fence about this deal because his stats really aren't that much better and he's not a 24 year old any more. He is fast approaching 30 and is getting by a lot on name value.

Yup, I find that I get hung up on players that broke in with promise a little later in their lives and then assuming they stay that age forever.

It happened when I traded Paquette and Booth for Kindl. Regret that trade.

I do like that cory gives me some stability in net though. I've never had that.

I took that into consideration before making the offer. Cory has some pretty great stats. I think the devils are a team that actually tries to improve vastly this summer. On a playoff team he's probably a top 3 or 4 goalie

Gelinas reminds me of a better Cody Franson. In the right situation he's going to be great.

Sort of like Franson and the preds, he's not a good fit there.
