Re: DET/PIT
Great trade for Wings and strange to see a Pens team trading for futures.

Re: DET/PIT
Myers was better when Nolan took over and maybe trading him now before his stock goes back up is a risk.
The deal is obviously bigger than previously planned. The offers for Myers alone (F + D) were okay but I wasn't satisfied with okay. I'd get some offense but lose a lot of periphs or just not get enough offense. Most of the forwards were of the 3rd or 4th line variety...I have enough of them. My hope was to find a top 6 forward.
Mike got involved and I threw out some names I was interested in and we worked on a deal. Pieces were added by me so I could get the players I wanted. Nedeljkovic was a natural landing spot for him with Ward and Khudobin and I get a decent 2nd NHL goalie under contract...Bryz is still unemployed. I stay competitive with periphs and add offense in the process. MacArthur can be up and down but years like last year make him a nice piece going forward. Polak is a dependable defender...basically matches or eclipses Myers on periphs.

Ya I agree with shoalzie. Might have lost a little in the immediate future but I get way more upside in the deal and improve my teams future outlook. Also provide a bit of stabilization at centre with fisher on the shelf. Polak was excess for me and my bet was last year was macarthur's peak. Hopefully Myers continues to improve.
