Monk wroteCOLONI think we were lucky that Chuck had about 30? Picks, and Lee had quite a few, made it go faster.. keep in mind the actual nhl draft has also started as early as the 22nd-23rd
June 1st start date would be ideal imo, easy to remember too and we get at least 3 weeks and a few days
It did help to have the most active drafters hold a lot of the picks. And conversely, those who didn't care or didn't research the draft or didn't have the time to draft just trade away their picks and didn't waste other people's time.
Three weeks should be our minimum amount of time but four weeks would work to cover our bases. I think our format works and I love not having late round picks having an advantage of knowing who actually gets drafted.

I've got my 2016 draft pick tracker ready to roll when this draft ends...any bets on who trades away their 2016 1st first? Shiv seemed to the first guy to get rid of all his picks when the next year of picks went live.

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion - Now an 8 hour window
Wow!
I've got to drop a dozen or so guys this summer but considering I've hung onto some deadweight for a while, that shouldn't be a problem. As long as my best player and 90th player are better than the best player and the 90th player I had before this draft, I'm calling that an improvement. I've never had this big of an injection of young talent onto my roster since I've joined. I'm glad I could survive this season without mortgaging a lot of higher draft picks.

Yeah I used this opportunity to cut a lot of deadweight as well. Hopefully some of my late rounders get drafted earlier and I turn a nice profit. Gonna be glued to my TV for this draft that's for sure.Shoalzie wroteCOLONWow!

the pick i like the least here is McKeown.Lee wroteCOLONFinal Draft Results:

two picks i like but where also easy to make at that point are Nylander and Mangiapane.
I also expect Ritchie and Tuch to go higher than where picked, which always look good at least short term.

^very strong draft IMO
i'd say your 7 picks are almost locks to eventually make the NHL.

sportsnet called him this years sleeper who could jump into the mid 1st. I'm not sold he'll go that early, but a late 1st or high 2nd and i'd be happy.

then later on i love his picks in Mayo and watson, both excellent picks.
Re: 2014 Draft Discussion - Now an 8 hour window
This is a great year to trade down. Lots of talent through all the rounds. Hell, I can name atleast 20 other draft worthy prospects just off the top of my head.
Re: 2014 Draft Discussion - Now an 8 hour window
Mckeown has been compared to McD in his draft year. A player that is very good in all areas but not elite in any one of them.kyuss wroteCOLONthe pick i like the least here is McKeown.Lee wroteCOLONFinal Draft Results:

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion - Now an 8 hour window
i know that he is supposed to go in the first and that he does have the tools, but I'm talking about what I saw personally and not what the consensus is.
I thought he looked much more promising last year, looked quite a dumb player in my views this season and I think there are more chances he goes in the 2nd rather than 1st

I wanted McK at 29 to be honest but you snagged him from me
Re: 2014 Draft Discussion - Now an 8 hour window
My turn I guess to have picks criticized:
#15 - Dylan Larkin
#18 - Ivan Barbashev
#21 - Travis Sanheim
#27 - Nikita Scherbak
#57 - Ondrej Kase
#67 - Nicolas Aubé-Kubel
#85 - Noah Rod
#94 - William Lagesson
#99 - Daniel Walcott
#120 - Maxim Letunov
#123 - Saku Maenalanen (2013)
#130 - Louis Belpedio
#137 - Juho Lammikko
#144 - Igor Shestyorkin
#147 - Logan halladay
#159 - Pavel kraskovsky
#169 - Eetu Sopanen
#178 - Elvis Merzlikins
#185 - Kasimir Kaskisuo
#196 - Olivier Leblanc
#199 - Joonas Lyytinen
#203 - Hayden Hawkey
#206 - Alexander Sharov
It was the first time ever i had a pick higher than 20 and the 1st round went exactly as i dreamt. Really happy with it.
Traded down in the 2nd when as feared my early pick prove to not be enough to grab my next target.
Had a couple of bumps down the road but got the other targets and also ended up picking up two guys i never thought would drop as far as they did (lammikko and leblanc)
