im just shocked at how cheap chuck got him, especially after having talks with bruyns a few times about gudas. I was expecting a bigger return if someone was able to pry gudas out of there.

Came down to positional need and wanted a good C. Your best C is Bolland and I prefer Eller and Billy doesn't have a C better than Eller and Mike wasn't going to trade me Backes, Toews or Bergeron. I could have got more if I wanted wingers, picks and prospects or some sort of quantity for quality package, but I had no interest in that since I have been after Cs since I joined and all I get offered are shitty or overpaid 4th and 3rd liners. Once Chuck made it known he would make Eller available talks really heated up and the 60-65th pick he added was to get the deal done without me opening up a block post and shopping him for a C before lock. Knowing who were the most interested I knew what Cs teams had and came to the conclusion that the chance I would be offered a C I value more than Eller was pretty slim.

Is Niskanen+Ruutu+Rattie+Lee more valuable than Eller? Probably if Rattie or Lee develop into good players, but that still left me with only 2 active Cs in Jokinen and MacKenzie and didn't improve my team since I think Niskanen and Ruutu are average dime a dozen type assets and view Eller as Plekanec 2.0 since he seems to be taking over the #1C spot and has been given the most ice time of MTL forwards recently and contributes to all cats.

im not mad you didn't take my offer or anything like that. Im just saying im shocked chuck pried him out at the price he did, especially after our talks. Thats all.

In all honesty I didnt think we'd be able to get a deal done either based on the rumore deals I had heard about. Figured I'd take a stab at it and asked his price. When he came back with Eller as an option I had to consider it lol. As much as Eller is one of my favorite Habs and a sick h2h piece; so is Gudas. At the end of the day age/stats/cap along with dmen being more valued than C's atm allowed me to feel comfortable pulling the trigger.

Maybe I like Eller more than I'm aware of - but I consider him a very nice BBKL assets and a good NHLer - that's a piece I want on my team
