Love it...lots of action already. Hagelin is getting major bites and it feels like a deal can be done this weekend if things go right. Get in while you can!

For Handzus, I'm in favor of doing a lateral swap for another veteran center making more money.

Apologies to those who've been waiting to hear back from me...something will happen by tonight. For those still interest/in the running, I'll get a hold of you throughout the day and I'll make my final decision this evening.

Thanks!

Not really looking to make anymore moves until the season starts but it sounds like Handzus might go back to centering the 2nd line.

In 23 playoff games last year, 3 G 8 A, +7, 40 hits, 156 FOW, 22:08 SHTOI...decent depth option if you need it.

...and did I mention he's only making a million bucks this year? ;)

I'll dangle Nate Guenin out there...

Playing on the 3rd pair in Colorado (15+ minutes a night) and has had a nice start so far. In 4 games, he's a +2, picked an assist and has 9 hits and 9 blocks and has played 10.68 SHTOI. He isn't waiver exempt but he's only a $600,000 cap hit.

I'd just assume hang onto him because he's my next best defenseman to OEL so far but I'd got solid defense depth and I could use a winger...a 3rd or 4th liner. Guenin is looking like he'll be a regular for the Avs so I'd like a regular playing W in return.

Another idea...Michal Handzus, Guenin and my 2015 2nd rounder for a solid 2nd line center.

Albeit a small sample size, for his per game rates on hits (2.25), blocks (2.25) and SHTOI (2.67)...his comparables so far are Mike Weaver, Matt Greene, Jared Cowen, Nicklas Grossmann, Ladislav Smid, Dustin Byfuglien and Erik Gudbransson. He's one of 5 of those 8 players with a plus rating and he's one of 3 with at least 6 shots.

Just food for thought...really a solid player in the early going.

So far, there are 17 defensemen that average at least 2 hits, 2 blocks and 2 minutes of SHTOI...Guenin being one of them. Other guys (including the others previously mentioned) in that group include Luke Schenn, Cody Franson, Kevin Bieksa, Brooks Oprik and Stephane Robidas.

Guenin through 5 games has average 3.2 blocks, 2.6 hits and 2.64 SHTOI...4 hits and 7 blocks last night against Washington in 17:06. He's now tied with Orpik for 2nd most blocks.
