This deal makes alot of sense for Hong when you consider that he had to move a piece to get under the cap. Rather than destroy his core by moving one of: Ovechkin, Zajac, or Stepan he moved Purcell for some waiver exempt pieces that can score, and Methot for Oleksiak, a very good move for a contending team that makes up for the points lost with Purcell. All things considered, I think Hong did about as well as he could given his cap constraints.
