If salary concerns weren't in play, I probably just roll the dice with Ballard and see if he finds success with Minnesota but instead, I get a very steady vet and importantly, add salary. I'm still figuring out how much more I need to get up to the floor...still have a few free agents left (namely Ryan Whitney) and I need to get a backup goalie.

Haha Paul, I was thinking the same, playing the bidders against one another, bloods pacts etc.

I had a better player offered to me but couldn't reach a deal. Getting Morris made the most sense and I could keep my top defense prospect. Instead of having 3 offers to mull over as I was hoping...one dropped out early, I had a deal in place with Chuck and waited for a full day for the other team to come up with something. I don't think I'm settling at all but there was a better option available to me.

I like Bennett alot (been trying to acquire him for a while now from various owners) so it worked out. I'm expecting a moderate rebound from Ballard and I shed overa mil in cap to give me a nice injury call up buffer. Win-win IMO.
