Drouin and Jones are both opting out. Both took part in the physicals but won't do the fitness portion due to injury. Seems legit to me.

Re: 2013 Entry Draft (June 14th @ 12:00 EST)
No doubt there is reward for those who have done their research, especially in the 2nd & 3rd round. It would be a nice goal one day to start the draft as soon as combine result are out, however we don't have that level of knowledge to draft 7 rounds w/o NHL reference, - IMO - it's a few years off

2nd and 3rd rounders are easy, if you dont do your research, trade your picks

Re: 2013 Entry Draft (June 14th @ 12:00 EST)
How much affect does the NHL combine have on a draft compared to something like the U-18 tournament or the Memorial Cup? Can't see hockey being something you can judge player by measurables. You pretty much know how fast a guy is or how hard they shoot...probably just means more the GMs to be able to talk to these kids.
The NFL combine is such an overrated event. Anytime a college prospect scratches his ass, you have a 5 man panel talk about it on ESPN. I still have to think that game film means more.

The list of 2011 draftees that are re-entering the draft...
http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2 ... mbine-2009
...naturally I'd have 3 of those.

Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
Yeah I've got two. Chris Gibson (surprised LA didn't sign him?) and David Honzik (meh)
Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
Shocked as well about Gibson ...
I assume players picked in previous drafts are still our property?

Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
Don't see why not...if you drafted or acquired someone, they're yours until you trade or drop them. No different than if you drafted a guy that doesn't even get drafted in the NHL in the given year.
Kinda glad Bengtsson is going back in the draft. Pretty high pick in '11...did alright in the WJC this past year for Sweden. Put up decent numbers in the USHL. I have to imagine of my three guys, I think he resurfaces.

weird for the Canes not to sign Hofmann after the good rebound year he had.Shoalzie wroteCOLONThe list of 2011 draftees that are re-entering the draft...

We'll see where he goes in this year draft.

Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
oh, i see they were simply unable to sign him:
http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm ... s-williams
“We wanted to sign Gregory to a contract, and felt that he could have a future with the Hurricanes on the NHL level,” said Rutherford. “It is disappointing that we were unable to reach an agreement with his agent to keep him in our organization.”
Looks like another Andersen situation for Carolina.
Guess what, Hofmann reportedly has the same agent Andersen had. Beloved guy in Raleigh i guess.
Funny how those 2 guys were also drafted by the same BBKL team.

Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
funny, i've seen Domi top 10 on a couple, but other's still rank him in the mid 20's.
IMO he could be a top 7 or 8 pick, his game really took another step in the playoffs/mem cup

Re: 2013 Entry Draft Discussion.
According to some insiders the leafs have interview Sean Monahan twice, spent the first half of day 1 (at the combine) with him, and he's flying back to Toronto to do an on ice-skills testing with leaf brass next week.
Interesting target considering he's a top 8 pick and we own the 21st.....think Nonis likes him that much to trade up? or is that just normal? spend too much time on a prospect you'll never get?

unless he's got something on the table to move up and he wants to check him out first hand
