like i said above, if FLA had top pick i think they'd take Mac (whom they will get at 2) because the Avs need a dman in the worst way.

Mem cup showing some of the difference between each of the 3 - against tighter checking (gap control and size) of the W & O mac looks like the harder player to manage/control, although the team game of the Knights faltered in a big way, I think the today & finals will be an epic showing.

Positives from both: during the mem cup.

I like that Mac is almost a year younger, and he's been explosive when he has the puck

Jones looks so calm, never seems to get rattled....smooth skater, fluid with the puck.

Negatives:

Jones is almost too calm, would be nice to see him be a bit 'pronger like' a good slash never killed someone.

mac needs to learn to slow the play down sometimes, when you're up 8 - 2 you've gotta learn to save your energy. You dont have to go balls out all the time.

3g, 2a for mackinnon, 5a for drouin, big goal for jones.

overall, honestly....i think i like drouin best of the 3. he's got a much bigger toolbox than mackinnon, who relies almost singularly on his speed to create his chances. drouin's mix of hands, vision, and shiftiness along the boards is more appealing to me.

past that i have jones and mackinnon in a dead heat for #2. mackinnon is a fuckin bull, almost unstoppable at top speed through the neutral zone and deadly off the rush. i think that's where he's most effective - with speed off the rush when he's acting on instinct. when he gets the puck with too much time to think he's more prone to making questionable decisions. good quick release though.

jones reminds me of gardiner in the sense that he has no pulse with the puck. i think sometimes that can come off as being too nonchalant, but in reality it's just a total lack of panic. he joins the rush with ease and can get back if it's turned over without problem. a man his size should not be able to move like he can. he's a wizard on the point on the pp too. only thing i dont like is he seems a bit passive around his own net. could be more aggressive in clearing people out.

It's crazy that you'll get 2 of Jones, Drouin, and or Mackinnon...

After watching yesterdays game i'm still very torn. I agree that Jones has Gardiners 'calmness' however as a dman he reminds me a lot of EJ and Hedman. He's big calm, steady with the puck....he def has room to grow.

Mackinnon is a game breaker, reminds me of a less talented crosby, very similar moves and abilities but with less talent than crosby at that age.

Droiun reminds me of Marty St Louis, probably had the best hands/vision of everyone in the mem cup. Kid is going to be an insane point producer at the next level.

i gave up spezza for 3rd and karlsson for 2nd - i paid out the ass for these picks.

it's funny how earlier in the tournament mackinnon "beat" jones wide and squeaks a weak on by the goalie and he's suddenly the undisputed 1st overall pick.

then in the final, jones turns mackinnon sideways before scoring a big goal in the 2nd and there's not a peep.

im probably going to flip-flop back and forth on Jones vs Mac up until the draft

I was more impressed with mac, but imo he plays with better players. Jones is extremely talented, but the play would often get broked up because the guys on the ice with jones we not to his skill level.
