Dave Bolland and Michael Grabner

Post by anton »

Bolland

- 3 pts in 2 games and ~5:30 in SHTOI already
- centering Kane and Sharp
- CHI looks like an offensive juggernaut so far
- steal of a contract in this day and age (3.375)

Grabner

- 2 pts in 2 games
- best Islanders forward in the first 2 games
- last year a sign of inconsistency or just a sophomore slump? THAT is the question...

Debated putting these two up so early as their values are only going to increase (especially Bolland) but hell, if I dont get what I want, I'll just wait right.

One look at my roster shows what I'm after in return: 1st or 2nd year NHL guys with potential (Johansen, Schwartz, Foligno, Palmieri etc) - I'd consider junior prospects as well. I'd also need salary coming back.

Grabner looks good this year. I'd trade for him but I don't have (or want to move) what you're looking for.
Definitely worth picking up though.

Conacher or bust unfortunately. I have lots of interest so I have the luxury of waiting till I get what I want.

Conacher > Grabner (in my biased fan mind) I really don't see myself moving him.

at conacher's age grabner already had a 34 goal, 52 pt season under his belt. conacher's shiny and new right now but im not sure saying he's better than grabner makes sense. they are similar players though

I don't actually think he's a better/more valuable asset, I just like him more. Where as Grabner is explosive and game breaking on the rush, Conacher is constantly buzzing/battling all over the ice, making slick plays, and also a lot of really smart offensive zone decisions. I think given him bouncing between the top 2 lines in tampa bay and still having that uncertainty of what rate he can produce at in the NHL, I like the upside. Being a fan of him I think he can outproduce a lot of good nhl players this year. I almost think he's a better NHL player than minor league player given how well he uses his teammates (not saying he'll outproduce his ahl scoring rate, just saying his game transitions well imo.) Lots to love about Grabner also, I just like everything Conacher brings to the table and there's certainly a lot I'm optimistic about.

Interesting to see who will have the better rookie season from the same age. I think Conacher can do the same Grabs did at 23.
