Looking for a C Upgrade

Post by MSP4LYFE »

I am packaging Ryan Strome + Ray Whitney for an upgrade at the center position. Please PM me with an offer, or get ahold of me via MSN.

I am not interested in a package deal, just a straight up center that is better than Strome today, but also of comparable value moving forward.

I'd want a legit second line center back at minimum. Bozak and Bolland are third line guys.

Potentially a first. Most recent evidence of such.

Also just poking, I know you're not a fan of TyBo

I don't dislike Tyler Bozak at all, I'm not sure what gave you that impression. I do however dislike the role he was utilized in, Bozak is better suited for a third line role, and it boggles my mind that the Leafs are gifting McClement the job at the expense of Bozak.

I wouldn't doubt it under Carlyle, he is notorious for riding guys like McClement in a matchup capacity.

In terms of defensive play I'd take McClement over Bozak any day of the week. He's one of the top defensive forwards in the NHL IMO. That being said Bozak destroy's McClement in terms of offensive ability.

3 years ago he was. He was not as an avalanche, by any means.

Pretty sure Kareem broke out some stats in that old thread that proved otherwise...but I digress...

When we take his statistics league-wide we see some bad news as well. Of the 308 forwards with 1000 or more 5v5 zone start adjusted minutes of ice time over the past 2 seasons, McClement ranks 303rd in terms of goals against rate, 270th in terms of opponents goals for rate and 139th in terms of teammates goals against rate. So, to summarize that, he had above average defensive line mates, played against very weak offensive opponents and had a dreadful goals against average while he was on the ice.

The two years prior McClement looked much better. He ranked 119th (of 310) in goals against rate, 124th in teammate defensive ability, and had the 87th toughest quality of opponent offensively.
