Re: PIT/MTL
That makes 9 NHL Dmen...if you need one come and find me. Confirmed...
Re: PIT/MTL
why trade for a 9th dman with a #1 C ?
Initial feel to me is that Shiv smashed this one out of the park- at least on my value of do-it-all C's.

Statswise its a pretty decent deal.
1 player vs 2 pretty easy for that to be the case, let alone a slow year for a stud #1 C.
59a vs a combined 38
77pts vs 66
+17 vs +8 (3/5) -- no value TBH.
24stpts vs 16
557 fow vs 0
and 86shtoi vs 116 but that 86 forward shtoi
I dunno how you say only FOW when it's clearly more then that, and in a 1 player vs 2 comparison, on a fairly slow year for that individual as well.
Hits from forwards are worth a lot, not that MacArthur hits a lot, PIM and BS in reasonable totals are the cheapest stats in the BBKL
which leaves for a high SOG dman plus combined goal & GWG lead of any real value...
I'll stand by my comments

You and I need to make some statwise deals that are pretty decent thenbills09 wroteCOLONStatswise its a pretty decent deal.

Re: PIT/MTL
You also forget Myers had a down year too and only played 55 games. Add in an additional 27 games of stats and they skew in my favor. Not to mention the fact that Joe's periphs have dropped 2 consecutive years running, is significantly older and a much bigger cap hit. Not to mention Myers still has some upside yet to go while Jumbo is on his way down...Nick wroteCOLONbills09 wroteCOLONhe only loses fow in this deal though Sir Nicholas.

Re: PIT/MTL
legit that you like it
not crying foul here on anything - just my perspective.

Re: PIT/MTL
Thornton could easily be a number 2 C for the sharks in 2-3 years.
Re: PIT/MTL
Couture taking his spot? Gotta watch a game before predicting one of the most dominant, consistent point producing centers in the last decade.
Joe has made everyone around him better from day 1, that includes couture who benefits greatly from playing with him. Obviously I'm a Thornton fan - but its justified because he's awesome.

Re: PIT/MTL
He'll be 36, I don't think it's necessarily impossible that he is a 2nd line centre by then, if Couture continues to progress as he has.SuperMario wroteCOLONLOL...Peter wroteCOLONThornton could easily be a number 2 C for the sharks in 2-3 years.

Thornton is cut from the Sundin, Sakic etc. cloth. He will be a PPG C till he retires. Which line he plays on will not matter (although IMO he stays a line 1 C for his entire career).Shep wroteCOLONHe'll be 36, I don't think it's necessarily impossible that he is a 2nd line centre by then, if Couture continues to progress as he has.SuperMario wroteCOLONLOL...Peter wroteCOLONThornton could easily be a number 2 C for the sharks in 2-3 years.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying it's not impossible. He's been lucky enough to stay extremely healthy so far.SuperMario wroteCOLONThornton is cut from the Sundin, Sakic etc. cloth.
